The Suicide Squad: Leak Reveals Funkos For R-Rated Harley Quinn, King Shark & More
James Gunn's upcoming film The Suicide Squad has gained a lot of traction since its initial announcement, quickly becoming the most anticipated DCEU project for many.
The production of the film was kept largely under wraps with Gunn even electing to hide entire characters from the public eye until he was ready to reveal his newest movie to the world.
This is a great way to ensure plenty of surprises in the new DC team-up flick, but it comes at a cost leading up to the film's debut.
Other than a couple of trailers and some character posters, fans have had to rely on promotional artwork and merchandise to get a better look at many of the sure-to-be fan-favorite characters like David Dastmalchian's Polka-Dot Man and Sylvester Stallone's King Shark.
Luckily, fans can usually rely on a trusty merchandise leak to give them a better idea of what to expect from an upcoming blockbuster like The Suicide Squad.
NEW FUNKOS FOR THE SUICIDE SQUAD
A crystal-clear look at several Funko Pops! made for James Gunn's The Suicide Squad was recently revealed on Twitter, giving fans an even better idea of what to expect from the summer blockbuster.

The Twitter user also shared a shot of the back of Harley Quinn's box, showing the complete common Funko Pop! lineup for the summer blockbuster. Surely to the delight of fans all over, this image reveals that King Shark will also be featured in the franchise's Funko foray.
WHO'S IN THE SUICIDE SQUAD?
The Suicide Squad may be more than two hours long, but only a fraction of the team will make it out alive.
Most of the gang that got this Funko treatment have held the spotlight amongst other merchandise for The Suicide Squad as well, further hinting that this core group made up of Harley Quinn, Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Polka-Dot Man, and King Shark will be the main focus for a bulk of the upcoming film. Perhaps these characters are the ones to survive James Gunn's writing ax the longest?
It's great to get another look at Harley Quinn's Arkham-inspired look for The Suicide Squad ahead of its debut, although she's been no stranger to the spotlight in promo material.
What's truly a treat is getting a look at Ratcatcher II fully suited up and ready for trouble with her pet rat Sebastian along for the ride. Not much has been seen of this new character leading up to her DCEU debut, but her inclusion in the Funko lineup bodes well for her level of involvement in The Suicide Squad.
Although this Funko lineup consists of eight figures already, there are still some notable characters missing from the Pop! collection, such as Michael Rooker's Savant, Peter Capaldi's Thinker, Pete Davidson's Blackguard, and Jai Courtney's Captain Boomerang. This begs the question of just how far these guys will make it through the blockbuster movie if they were kept out of the Funko spotlight, but only time will tell who is destined to live following the giant DC collaboration of characters.
However, some additional team members will surely "Pop!" up as retailer exclusives at places like Target and Hot Topic. Perhaps the biggest question to ask following this reveal is why Sean Gunn's terrifying Weasel wasn't given the Funko treatment. He does sort of look like something you'd find in a Walmart bathroom, so maybe we'll find him there once Funko is ready to roll these out.
The Suicide Squad debuts in theaters and on HBO Max on August 6, 2021.
