Zack Snyder's Justice League: Sequel Comic Project Canceled
Fans of Zack Snyder and his aptly named "Snyderverse" have made an effort to support charities related to suicide prevention efforts in honor of Zack Snyder's daughter, Summer. Many fans have even had drives of their own to raise money for such charities.
It was recently announced that the LightCast podcast would produce a motion-comic adaptation of Zack Snyder's Justice League sequel based on the storyboards shown at “The Dreamscapes of Zack Snyder's Justice League” exhibit in Dallas, Texas.
However, due to recent discoveries regarding the project, it looks like it has been canceled before much progress had been made on it.
AN ARTIST CAUGHT TRACING DC COMICS
It was recently found that the primary artist for The Dreamscapes of Justice League: A Motion Comic, Mariano De Venezia, traced multiple drawings for the project, which caused outcry among many fans on social media:

In response, the original producers of the motion fan-comic, the LightCast podcast, announced the cancellation of the project in a Tweet:
"It comes with a heavy heart that we have to announce "The Dreamscapes of Justice League: A Motion Comic" has been officially cancelled. As fans of the the Snyderverse, we and a group of fellow fans took it upon ourselves to see a continuation of the cancelled story of Justice League come to life. With the involvement of actors, artists, musicians & many others, we all agreed to give our talents and time for free to achieve this goal & support the AFSP charity at the same time. What we did not foresee was the general uneasiness about the project from general public, some rare targeted harassment towards members of the team, the countless legalities we've dealt with & ultimately our own mistakes on certain parts of the project. We sincerely apologize to those of you who supported us along the way, and we acknowledge our shortcomings as highlighted by others.
All work on the project has been ceased immediately with all parties involved agreeing it is for the best. Many thanks to the supporters and those who held us accountable in our faults."
A DISORGANIZED EFFORT BY FANS
On the surface, most of the drama comes from the revelation of drawings being traced. However, the announcement from LightCast also mentioned "countless legalities" regarding the project, implying that they had not legally cleared parts of this fan project with the powers that control these characters and this franchise.
It seems unprofessional that the group was not more forthcoming with its mistakes, such as one of its artists being caught tracing the artwork of multiple professional artists in the comic book industry. At the least, the group made a generalized apology for "our shortcomings as highlighted by others," which is the bare minimum for what was discovered.
Fan projects like this can be daunting, and not just anyone can do them with such scale. Any form of controversy or unprofessionalism can cause everything to fall apart at the seams.
Hopefully, another group of fans will try adapting Zack Snyder's original storyboards but with better results.
