Avengers: Endgame Producer Teases The Blip's Impact on New York City

Marvel Studios is on a roll with releases on Disney+ and in theaters which are set to continue through the rest of 2021. The Disney+ side of Phase 4 is looking to end off the year with Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye, which will be the first time the MCU's long-time archery expert has headlined his own solo outing.

While Hawkeye will surely focus on its leading hero and his next journey, the show is also set to feature Hailee Steinfeld's MCU debut as she takes on the role of Young Avenger Kate Bishop. The series will see Clint Barton taking on a new role as a mentor for Bishop as her own bow-and-arrow skills progress, and she will likely take on a leadership role fairly quickly, especially with Barton potentially losing his hearing as he did in the comics.

As has been the case with many Phase 4 projects, the mystery lies in how the world will look in a post-Avengers: Endgame setting after Thanos' universe-changing actions with the Infinity Gauntlet.

For Hawkeye specifically, a new report is teasing some of what the new world will be experiencing on screen.

The r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers Reddit page shared an article snippet about Marvel Studios' Hawkeye series from an upcoming issue of TV Guide.

The piece specifically discussed the five-year time gap after Avengers: Infinity War in which half of all life in the universe had disappeared, including Clint's wife, Laura Barton, and his children.

Additionally, Marvel Studios producer Trihn Tran spoke on the state of New York City, which is doing well, although some of its people are said to be struggling after the Blip in Avengers: Endgame:

"The city has, and in many ways, recuperated and continued thriving... but the same can’t be said for all its citizens.”

NYC IN A BRAVE NEW WORLD

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is no stranger to New York City, as America's most prominent metropolis is featured in close to a dozen outings with more planned in Phase 4. Naturally, it would only make sense for Marvel to showcase what the Big Apple has gone through since half its people returned, especially with Hawkeye centered on a character who lost his entire family to this event.

When Laura Barton and her kids first turned to dust, Clint lost it emotionally and turned to the Ronin persona to try to right the world's wrongs seemingly all by himself. While the series will rightfully focus on his own recovery after reuniting with his loved ones, New York City is a whole different beast as its citizens try to pull their lives back together after such an impactful tragedy.

As Phase 4 continues, The Blip will play a major role for the MCU's leading and supporting characters alike as they attempt to make sense of their lives in this new world. With Hawkeye focusing on the people of New York City dealing with the aftermath of everybody coming back to life, it will undoubtedly set up some emotional moments for fans to experience.

Hawkeye will begin streaming on Disney+ on November 24, 2021.
