Ewan McGregor's Obi-Wan Kenobi Series Reportedly Completes Filming

Obi-Wan Kenobi Series Star Wars

One of the most fan-anticipated Star Wars series in the works for Disney+ is Lucasfilm's Obi-Wan Kenobi

Set a decade after the events of Revenge of the Sith, both Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen are reprising their roles as Obi-Wan and Anakin/Darth Vader respectively, but they're not alone.

In addition to rumors and reports of R2-D2, C-3PO, and a young Princess Leia appearing in the show, Obi-Wan Kenobi's cast roster of Sung Kang, Rupert Friend, and Kumail Nanjiani indicates that the legendary Jedi Master wasn't as much of a hermit as Luke's Uncle Owen led fans to believe.

Fans first learned that the series began filming in May with the goal of a 2022 release; and now, new rumors suggest that the Tatooine twin suns have finally set on the shoot of this long-awaited story.

According to LRM, principal photography has wrapped on Lucasfilm's Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ series and is ready to transition into post-production.

This news comes on the heels of a report that Obi-Wan Kenobi star Rupert Friend finished shooting his role for the show.

While Lucasfilm has the show slated for a 2022 debut, there is still no confirmed release date nor news if the series will require reshoots.

ONLY A SITH DEALS IN ABSOLUTES

Following The Book of Boba Fett which is set for a December 2021 release on Disney+, Lucasfilm only confirmed the Rogue One spin-off series Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi for 2022.

There has been speculation that Season 3 of The Mandalorian could air in late 2022, but the series has yet to begin production.

Now that Obi-Wan Kenobi has supposedly wrapped, and if post-production isn't delayed, it's likely to be the first Star Wars series to stream on Disney+ next year. However, exactly when may hinge on wanting to avoid competition with Marvel Studios' extensive list of upcoming series for the streaming service.

More Star Wars news and confirmation is expected on Disney+ Day on November 12, 2021.
