Marvel Reveals New Tom Holland Spider-Man Book Ahead of No Way Home Trailer

Spider-Man Mysterio Iron Man

Back when the Avengers was released in 2012, another film franchise had just started the same year: The Amazing Spider-Man. Of course, when you have a film with various Marvel heroes coming together, Spider-Man would be one of the ones most people would choose to join in on the fun. Sadly, that possible future seemed like an impossibility.

But then, there was The Amazing Spider-Man 2, in 2014, a film which failed critically and was panned across the board; add-in that infamous Sony hack, and then those former impossible ideas became quite the opposite. The perfect storm created just the right conditions in which Marvel and Sony could play ball; and they did, gifting us Tom Holland's now-famous Spider-Man.

The online chatter and fervor for his next filmSpider-Man: No Way Home, is reaching insane levels—so much so that it might be approaching the height that Avengers: Endgame reached. This isn't surprising as the film is rumored to have three generations of Spider-Men on the screen at the same time.

While fans wait, Marvel has announced a brand-new book that promises to show new glimpses behind all of Tom Holland's many Spider-Man appearances in the MCU.

BEHIND SPIDER-MAN

Marvel Studios, in partnership with Abrams Books for Young Readers, has officially unveiled The Moviemaking Magic of Marvel Studios: Spider-Man, a book which takes readers further behind the scenes of every Marvel Studios film in which Tom Holland's Spider-Man has appeared, from Captain America: Civil War to Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The book will hit shelves on November 20, 2021, everywhere books are sold. Fans may also pre-order the book here.

Alongside the reveal, Marvel also shared a dozen or so images of the book itself, from the cover to various pages within. They can all be seen below:

This is the front cover of the book, which was written and put together by Eleni Roussos.

Then, of course, there's the back of the book. There's the synopsis, but also of even more interest are the various concept art pieces of Spider-Man hanging on to Ebony Maw's ship from Avengers: Infinity War.

Some of the concept art here has already been out there in the world, but nonetheless, it's still cool seeing art from Tom Holland's first appearance.

There are various quotes included on the left side of the image, including one from Nate Moore, saying that "obviously there's a lot of pressure when you're recasting Spider-Man for the third time..."

These two pages show off some art of Spider-Man's web-shooters from the films, with lots of focus seemingly on his appearance in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

The left page is where Holland's quote about the web-shooters from above can be found.

These are the same two pages from above, but the focus seems to be a pop-out element of the book, with the tab revealing multiple expressions of Spidey's new MCU eyes. The expressiveness that they allowed was something brand-new to the character in live-action but had long been a common way of drawing the character in the comics.

Here fans can see a bunch of fun sketches of Spidery in motion, as well as various gags that were to possibly be used in the film.

The Washington Monument was a crucial scene in Spider-Man: Homecoming, and here readers can see a really neat look at how they designed the logistics and visual elements of the scene.

Another example of the tab pop-out is shown here, with the image of Spider-Man crawling up the monument opening up to reveal a shot of director Jon Watts talking to what is presumably Tom Holland in his suit.

Jumping ahead, fans are treated to a pleasing concept piece from Avengers: Infinity War, with the page on the right going over how cool it was for everyone to see the various characters interacting for the first time.

Here is some fun concept art of the scene in which Spider-Man is accidentally dragged into space after his encounter with Iron Man, Doctor Strange, and Cull Obsidian in New York City.

One of Spider-Man's biggest adversaries has been Quentin Beck's Mysterio, who can be seen here alongside some concept art for the character's design.

Another pop-out tab in action reveals even more alternate looks for Mysterio in Spider-Man: Far From Home.

The last sample pages included are shown here, which mostly focus on the design of Peter's web wings.

MAGIC OF SPIDER-MAN REVEALED

All of these pages look like only the tip of the iceberg in terms of what they will show. Seeing how many Spider-Man moments throughout the MCU were created and conceived will never get old.

What would have been really cool is if one of these early pages showed fans something from Spider-Man: No Way Home. Sadly, most things about the film are under lock and key—except for, strangely, the many revealing pieces of merchandise that are leaking through the cracks.

Things like Spider-Man's new black and gold suit, which also happens to have magic webbing; something that is likely a Steven Strange addition. There's also another mystery suit seen in various toys, and also some neat promo images of Doctor Strange and Spidery doing magical things.

One day, fans will finally get the trailer for the highly anticipated film. The word on the street is that it will release at some point before the film hits theaters on December 17, 2021.
