One of Marvel Studios' upcoming series for Disney+ in 2022 is Moon Knight starring Star Wars sequel trilogy actor Oscar Isaac

Yet another new addition to the MCU's Phase 4 roster, Moon Knight aka Marc Spector is a vigilante superhero who attributes his powers to the Egyptian god of the moon.

In addition to Isaac, Hannibal Rising's Gaspard Ulliel, and possibly a reprisal by Emily Van Camp as Sharon CarterEthan Hawke is confirmed as the series' main villain, and he recently had a few words to say about his character and squaring off against Oscar Isaac.

In an interview with Seth Meyers, Ethan Hawke said he's "entered some alternate universe, and it is kind of interesting" regarding his first Marvel Studios project and also teased that he and Oscar Isaac are "fighting for good and evil" in the series.

The actor also shared how he became involved with the show, claiming Oscar Issac actually approached him:

"Well, I heard about it from Oscar Isaac who lives like three blocks down the street... He's like 'Hey, want to be in the Moon Knight with me?' and I was like 'Yeah!' So it happened the right way, you know?"

In terms of what he and Isaac will be up to in the Disney+ series, Hawke claimed, "...we're conjuring ancient gods, and we're fighting for good and evil, and it's very exciting."

When Meyers commented that Hawke's long hair and glasses were giving a real David Koresh vibe, Hawke surprisingly replied, "I've based my character on David Koresh:"

"I've based my character on David Koresh. So, I guess it's working. I wanted a Camaro, you know? I wanted to ride in a Camaro. Yeah, I can't believe you - I mean, you're good, Seth. You're good. Or maybe I'm not out of character yet."

David Koresh was the cult leader who claimed to be a prophet and a primary player in the 1993 Waco siege. He also owned a 1968 Camaro; and while Hawke was quick to point out that Koresh wasn't an admirable character, he did say that "he is the basis of great character inspiration, however."

Even though Ethan Hawke's involvement with Moon Knight as a villain is anything but a secret, which villain he's playing is. Fans have speculated the actor may have been cast as the Sun King, The Profile, or possibly Morning Star due to rumors about the inclusion of Werewolf by Night

While Hawke was careful in discussing his work for Moon Knight, his quote about "conjuring ancient gods" and "we're fighting for good and evil" does give fans more to go on.

Firstly, the mention of "fighting for good and evil" is incredibly exciting as Isaac and Hawke going toe-to-toe in a Marvel action sequence is bound to be epic.

Plus, since they're both revered actors, they're sure to deliver incredible performances in the way of drama and action.

Hawke's character inspiration coupled with his mention of "conjuring ancient gods" does sound like he could be playing the Sun King who, in the comics, had been institutionalized before believing himself to be the avatar of the sun god Ra.

The character's history of insanity and believing himself a leader could parallel that of Koresh, and it also explains why he's conjuring gods in the Moon Knight series.

Interestingly enough, it also parallels Isaac's Marc Spector in that he too believes his abilities originated from an Egyptian god.

Having two characters with similar origins on opposing moral grounds would certainly add not just to the conflict of the series but also the hype.

Moon Knight is currently filming and set to release in 2022 on Disney+.
