She-Hulk Actress Renee Elise Goldsberry Comments on MCU Involvement
Much like Marvel Studios' films, each MCU Disney+ series to date has brought something new to the table in terms of style, genre, and storytelling.
Looking ahead at what's to come in Marvel's Phase 4, that trend appears to continue, particularly in regard to She-Hulk starring Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters, Bruce Banner's cousin.
As a half-hour legal comedy, She-Hulk is a first for Marvel Studios, and for the majority of the show's cast like Jameela Jamil, Ginger Gonzaga, and Hamilton alum Renee Elise Goldsberry, the series is their first foray in the MCU.
However, for Goldsberry, the 2022 Disney+ series is far from her first introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and she recently shared her thoughts on being involved.
SHE-HULK ACTRESS DISCUSSED JOINING THE MCU
In an interview with Parade, Renee Goldsberry shared her thoughts on being part of the MCU and revealed that she and her kids "are huge Marvel fans:"
"My kids and I are huge Marvel fans. I can’t really talk about my own involvement with Marvel, but I can tell you that we definitely got through the pandemic bingeing Marvel movies and Marvel television shows. There are times when my career makes me cool to my kids, which is shocking as a middle-aged woman that anything I’d be doing in my life would be cool to my kids as they get older…"
It's interesting to learn that Goldsberry spent 2020 binge-watching much like the rest of the fan base and that it's a passion she shares with her kids.
In addition, the actress also touched on why a role in the Marvel Universe is important in regard to her role as a mother.
"To be a part of a world like the Marvel Universe, that would be really fantastic, because they’re huge fans of it. Your kids can’t watch everything that you do, but every once in a while you get to be a part of something that makes them proud."
HAMILTON STAR'S MYSTERIOUS SHE-HULK ROLE
Even though Goldsberry was vague about her direct involvement with She-Hulk, she is expected to play a character named Amelia in the series.
Of course, whether the character is meant for the greater MCU or just the Disney+ show alone remains to be seen.
Regardless, for fans, it's always great to learn that Marvel actors not only have an understanding of the MCU, but also an appreciation for it and are just as invested in the story as the fans.
It only means great things for the show in terms of performance and passion.
Speaking of passion, other members of the She-Hulk cast have been raving about Tatiana Maslany's performance as Jennifer Walters and how "fun" the show is.
With such positive buzz from the cast and talent like Goldsberry, Maslany, as well as Mark Ruffalo in his signature role, She-Hulk has the makings of a "smashing" success.
