WandaVision: Alternate Scarlet Witch Costumes for Elizabeth Olsen Revealed

Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff has been a strong point of contention among fans since she made her live-action debut in Avengers: Age of Ultron. It's taken almost six years in the MCU for the Avenger to realize her true potential in becoming the powerful Scarlet Witch and finally don the comic accurate suit fans have been craving.

The actress herself has shared her distaste for her superhero costumes plenty of times over the years, often criticizing the revealing nature of her outfit compared to other female heroes.

Ever since her first appearance, the spell-caster has gone through a string of vaguely similar costumes before finally debuting her iconic Scarlet Witch look in the WandaVision series finale

However, it seems Wanda's latest look might not have always been as comic accurate as what appeared in the climactic episode since newly-revealed concept art has showcased a drastically different costume.

ALTERNATE SCARLET WITCH COSTUME DESIGNS REVEALED

Marvel Studios concept artist David Masson has revealed two alternate designs for Scarlet Witch's WandaVision costume in a post on his ArtStation profile.

A second version of the design included a belt buckle around the jacket inspired by the crown Wanda wears in many Marvel Comics and in the WandaVision series finale.

The costume illustrator captioned the post to describe the alternate “look that didn't make it in the show” as the “next step to her Endgame look:”

“Had the immense pleasure of working on Marvel's WandaVision under the supervision of amazing costume designer Mayes Rubeo. Here are some illustrations of a look that didn't make it in the show, they were supposed to be the next step to her Endgame look.”

COMPARING TO WANDA'S OTHER MCU COSTUMES

Masson's designs are distinctly more similar to Wanda's past MCU costumes than what appeared as she transformed into the Scarlet Witch during the Disney+ series finale. Based on this, some may speculate this look would have been worn by Elizabeth Olsen as she left the Hex to confront SWORD in the fifth episode. If this were to be the case, this suit would serve as the next evolution of her Endgame costume as the artist described.

Interestingly, this costume appears incredibly similar to the one Wanda donned in the concluding moments of Avengers: Age of Ultron as the newest additions to the team assembled. Funnily enough, that outfit appeared for mere seconds in the blockbuster sequel and was never seen again as Wanda wore a totally different look when she next was seen in Captain America: Civil War.

In the past, Elizabeth Olsen has shared her desire to “cover up a bit” in future projects as her superhero look is distinctly lower cut and more revealing than other female Avengers. While this suit may be less of an evolution than what made it into the series, the overall goal of showing less skin was clearly the same. Given this, it's possible the less revealing costume may have been mandated by the studio or Olsen herself going into the Disney+ series.

WandaVision is streaming now, exclusively on Disney+.
