Andrew Garfield Claims Tobey Maguire's Leaked Image From Spider-Man: No Way Home Is Photoshop
Andrew Garfield Sets Spidey Rumors "Straight"
Andrew Garfield went on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to address the rumors about his appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Specifically, he spoke on the leaked photo that appeared to show Garfield suited up in his Amazing Spider-Man costume next to fellow Spider-Man actor Tobey Maguire in front of a blue screen.
Fallon: "There's a photo going around on the internet of you and Tobey Maguire on the set of Spider-Man, the new Spider-Man movie."
Garfield: "I'm not sure about that..."
Fallon: "We are. We're pretty sure about it! So we know what's up, do you know what's up?"
Garfield initially deflected the topic, asking Fallon "what are you talking about?" when the host questioned if he had seen the image.
The 38-year-old actor then started to change his tune, telling Fallon "if you show me the photo, I can tell you whether it's me or whether it's a real thing."
Fallon: "It's been erased off the internet."
Garfield: "Oh, how convenient, Detective Fallon!"
Shortly after claiming to be unaware of the photo's existence, Garfield stated that he had "heard about [the photo], and did see it, and it's a Photoshop" before exclaiming, "I'm trying to manage expectations!"
Following the back and forth, Garfield confirmed that he had watched the new Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer, expressing his admiration for his Spidey successor Tom Holland:
"I have, and I'm excited, and I think that Tom Holland is just the perfect Peter Parker and Spider-Man, so I'm just super stoked. And I get to just be a fan again, which is my preferred position, to be able to sit in the audience and just kind of go [jokingly], 'Yeah, you screwed up mate, you didn't do it as well as you could've done it!' I get to be that guy that's just like, 'Meh, I don't really love the suit, and I don't really love it...'" I get to be that person which is much more fun."
