Elizabeth Olsen Celebrates Doctor Strange 2 Wrap In New Photo With Marvel Team
While the title alone for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was enough to pique fan interest, Sam Raimi in the director's chair, coupled with claims of the film's scary nature, elevated this sequel to one of Marvel's more intriguing Phase 4 projects.
Curiosity for the film reached new heights in 2021 due to the events of WandaVision and Wanda Maximoff's ties to the 2022 film, not to mention the rather "strange" Sorcerer Supreme's role in the record-breaking trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Basically, Marvel Studios appears to be laying the groundwork for not just a sequel, but a pivotal Phase 4 MCU epic; and now, it looks like that film is one step closer to its March 2022 release.
Scarlet Witch's Elizabeth Olsen "Not Strange Anymore"
Marvel hairstylist Karen Bartek, who worked on Avengers: Infinity War, Endgame, WandaVision, and now the Doctor Strange sequel, shared on Instagram that filming has wrapped on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
The Doctor Strange sequel has been filming in London and was set to conclude this month, according to Benedict Wong who plays Strange's fellow sorcerer.
The photo appears to have been taken in one of the film set's makeup trailers and features Elizabeth Olsen.
Throughout production, the WandaVision actress has been candid about her surprise upon learning she was in the film and recently teased changes to her character in the Doctor Strange sequel.
Bartek captioned the photo that includes the Scarlet Witch actress with "Not 'Strange' Anymore!!:"
"Not ‘Strange ‘ Anymore !! Wrapped again 🙏🏽💙 #Marvel #drstrange2 #ElizabethOlsen #teamwitch @triciasawyer photo by @courtney_ly @hottoolspro"
Strange Secrecy Surrounding Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch
It's no secret that Marvel Studios requires its cast and crew to keep quiet on the details of their respective films. Still, it's rare for a production to wrap without some leaks or spoilers.
Granted, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has had some info slip through the cracks, including a recent rumor about the Fantastic Four and X-Men.
However, the silence surrounding this film and the level of secrecy for this sequel has been, well, a marvel as fans still know next to nothing about the plot itself.
Elizabeth Olsen's involvement has been of particular interest considering her character's journey and evolution in WandaVision on Disney+.
From the little information that exists, it sounds as if her role is as significant as the Sorcerer Supreme, but the possibilities of where her character and newfound abilities could go are seemingly endless.
Not only is her future within the MCU a topic of interest, but also the state of the MCU itself following her and Strange's multiversal team-up next year.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to debut in theaters on March 25, 2022.
