Marvel Reveals How Eternals' Timeline Connects to Spider-Man: Far From Home

Spider-Man Characters and Eternals Superheroes

The latest trailer for Eternals tantalized fans with new answers, such as the film's central conflict and why the Eternals didn't help stop Thanos. However, with the success of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings at the box office this Labor Day weekend, it looks like Eternals won't see another delay.

One big question that fans still have about Eternals is when it takes place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is certainly after the events of Avengers: Endgame, but how long after?

Well, one producer at Marvel Studios finally answered that question in a new interview.

Eternals Takes Place "Around" Spider-Man: Far From Home

In an interview with Empire Magazine (via Twitter), Marvel Studios producer Nate Moore answered various questions about Eternals with the most revealing being when it takes place in the MCU.

Moore said that Eternals takes place "right around the same time as Spider-Man: Far From Home, with the world recovering from the attack of Thanos and the return of half the world population."

The long-time Marvel Studios producer said that the film will answer why the Eternals never got involved until now, admitting "that was the first question" they had to answer themselves with a script "to deal with that issue:"

"The script is built to deal with that issue. We have a very specific reason why the Eternals didn't participate in the conflict with Thanos."

According to Moore, the ultimate answer they landed on will directly connect to a philosophical question this film will pose to audiences: "Is human nature good, evil, or somewhere in-between?"

Delayed Reaction of Infinity Stones?

It is established that the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home, baring the post-credit scene, take place eight months after Bruce Banner brought everyone back in Endgame. When Nate Moore said that Eternals takes place "right around the same time," that doesn't mean it has to be exactly when Far From Home happened.

After all, according to the latest trailer of Eternals, "the Emergence" was triggered when Banner brought everyone back with the Infinity Stones. If what Moore said is true, it can only be assumed that Banner's use of the Infinity Stones had a delayed reaction. However, it is odd that the reaction took at least half a year to take effect for the Eternals to notice.

Fans will be sure to see when Eternals takes place in the MCU timeline in theaters on November 5, 2021.
