Marvel's Ant-Man 3 Reportedly Films at One Otherworldly-Like Location
After being pushed to the forefront in Avengers: Endgame as the means for time travel, Ant-Man is set to return in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and, as the title suggests, is expected to take a deep dive into the mysterious Quantum Realm.
Directed by Peyton Reed, Quantumania will feature the MCU returns of Paul Rudd's Scott Lang and Evangeline Lilly's Hope Van Dyne for another size-altering adventure. The heroic pair will be joined by Michael Douglas' Hank Pym, Michelle Pfeiffer's Janet Van Dyne, newcomer Kathryn Newton as the recast Cassie Lang, and Jonathan Majors as the unpredictable Kang the Conqueror.
Aside from the expectation that the film will explore the Quantum Realm, plot details are still being kept under wraps. So far, production is currently ongoing for the MCU project, with Reed confirming that the movie will borrow The Volume technology from Star Wars' The Mandalorian.
Now, new details about Quantumania's production have emerged, and it seems to tease an interesting detail.
Ant-Man 3 Filmed Scenes in Unique Location
The Ronin shared that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania spent time filming scenes at the White Pocket Trail in Arizona.
Moreover, the outlet reported that it didn't involve any cast members, since filming took place in July, months before the official start of production at Pinewood Studios UK.
It's unknown what exactly was filmed at the outdoor location, though it's possible that background references were photographed for scenes that will later be shot in The Volume.
For context, White Pocket Trail is a 2.4 kilometer moderately trafficked loop trail located near Marble Canyon, Arizona. It is best known for its scenic views and water pockets.
Its landscape is made up of white and red sandstone that has eroded into uniquely shaped hills, gullies, and other curvatures.
Could This Be A Quantum Realm-Related Location?
If proven true, this latest rumor could further cement the idea that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will go all-out in terms of fully exploring the Quantum Realm.
Given that the White Pocket Trail has the qualities of an extraterrestrial location, there's a good chance it could be disguised as one of the untraversed corners of the mysterious dimension.
On the flip side, it's also possible that the White Pocket Trail will serve as the base of an alien planet, potentially hinting that Quantumania's narrative could also expand into the cosmos. On a plot level, this may mean that the Quantum Realm is not only a gateway to different points in time, but it can also open a path to other planets in the vast universe.
This rumor is also in line with a previous set photo from Quantumania, where a spaceship similar to what Hank Pym used in Ant-Man and the Wasp was featured, thus confirming the vehicle's return for the threequel.
That said, it looks like Scott Lang and the rest of Team Ant-Man will venture into the Quantum Realm to potentially study its origins and universe-bending secrets.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is set to premiere in theaters on February 17, 2023.
