Marvel's Loki Composer Heads to DC For Next Superhero Score

Loki, Batgirl

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was just released into theaters with resounding success, and on top of that, Disney+'s What If...? is currently airing—Marvel fans have a lot of content to contend with. So much so, that it can be easy to forget about them after they pass through.

For example, it's hard to believe that Loki only finished a few months ago, yet Tom Hiddleston has been disappointingly sparse on many screens across the world

The show made a huge impact, far larger than what many predicted. The world was introduced to the concept of Variants, timelines, the Multiverse, and Kang the Conqueror; it set up Phase 4 in major ways.

One of the best parts of the show was its score, which was composed by the brilliant Natalie Holt. It's going to be quite a while until Loki's second season, so what project will she be attached to next? Well, it looks like fans now have that answer.

Loki's Composer Finds a New Home

Loki composer Natalie Holt posted to her Twitter, revealing that her next project will be DC's upcoming Batgirl HBO Max film:

"Oh I’m allowed to say now, next up..  [bat]-girl"

The plot of the film is not known, but actor Leslie Grace will be stepping into the iconic role, and J.K. Simmons will be returning as Commissioner James Gordon.

Holt Headed Off to DC

The information on Batgirl is extremely slim, but it's great to know right out of the gate that its score will be excellent. Notable soundtracks for projects these days can be a rare thing, and to have had Holt's work stick out so much is a feat in itself.

While Marvel has an insane output these days, Warner Bros. is trying to keep up, and their next few years will be busier than normal. Next year alone brings The Batman, Black Adamthe Flash, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdomfans better strap themselves in.

The studio is clearly trying to bring aboard great talent to try and shift their meddling success to greener pastures, as evidenced by Holt's attachment to Batgirl. After all of the Justice League and Zack Snyder debacles, Warner Bros. probably wants to distance itself from that image as quickly as possible.

Their work with James Gunn on The Suicide Squad was a fantastic step forward. It's just a shame that it was released into the landscape it was. At least their partnership is still going strong, with Peacemaker right around the corner.
