Spider-Man: No Way Home: Tom Holland Keeps Lying About Tobey Maguire & Andrew Garfield

After the release of Eternals on November 5, 2021, all attention will be turned to December 17 for the theatrical premiere of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Marking Spider-Man actor Tom Holland's third solo flick in the MCU, No Way Home takes the cake for the most anticipated movie since Avengers: Endgame, largely due to the rumors of former Spidey actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield returning to their heroic roles.

At this point, it has been confirmed that past foes from the Multiverse will be facing off against Holland's Spider-Man, with all of them being villains from Maguire or Garfield's films. With the Multiverse opening and the return of these characters, it is all but confirmed that Maguire and Garfield will be in the film.

Sony Pictures UK's Twitter account recently posted a tweet with three spider emojis, adding fuel to the fire that the two actors would be returning. Another piece of evidence that supports their involvement in the film was a leaked video of Andrew Garfield in his Spider-Man costume, which was analyzed by VFX artists who concluded that the video was most likely authentic.

The Russian website for Skittles promoting its partnership with No Way Home featured a photo of Garfield's Spider-Man, but the image was quickly changed to a shot of Holland once word got out and rumors began to swirl even more.

In the past, Holland has been known to be a bit of a bad refrigerator, accidentally slipping up and spoiling some plot points of past films, but he has done his job well so far trying to throw fans off when it comes to No Way Home.

Tom Holland's Continued Secrecy for No Way Home

In a recent interview with Empire Magazine, Spider-Man actor Tom Holland was once again asked whether fellow actors Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield would be joining him in the film.

Holland appeared to continue his fibbing on the matter, claiming that he "(doesn't) know" if Maguire and Garfield are involved with the MCU sequel, and that he's "always in the dark:"

"I don’t know. I’m always in the dark. If they are, no-one’s told me.”

No Way Home's Big Secret

Obviously, Marvel Studios would want to keep something as big as this a complete secret and either reveal it in the final trailer or during the film itself. The return of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield has been rumored ever since the movie's announcement, and they have only gotten stronger as time has gone on.

There is ultimately so much evidence suggesting that they will be in the film that it is almost impossible to believe that they won't be. From the leaked set video of Garfield to No Way Home actor J.B. Smoove saying that he is excited to see Holland share the screen with Maguire, Holland is trying to keep a secret that has already been let out of the bag.

Credit has to be given to the Spider-Man actor, though, as it would be extremely difficult not to slip up and say something with how much he has been asked. Fans and interviewers have pushed extra hard on Holland due to his track record when it comes to spoilers, but as of right now, he has stood his ground.

Spider-Man: No Way Home will debut in theaters on December 17, 2021.
