The Dark Knight Actor Michael Caine Debunks Retirement Rumors

Michael Caine Alfred Batman Retirement

Michael Caine's acting career has taken him to tremendous heights.

The British actor has won Academy Awards, grossed billions at the global box office, and been an integral piece to numerous 21st century franchises. Comic book movie fans will recognize Caine as The Dark Knight's Alfred, a role he portrayed for each of Christopher Nolan's three Batman movies.

With dozens of films under his belt, dating as far back as 1956, fans have questioned how much longer the 88-year-old actor will stay in practice. While retirement rumblings made their way across the internet earlier this week, Caine himself has certified that he still has more to do.

Caine Shuts Down Retirement Rumors

Michael Caine isn't hanging it up just yet.

Representatives for Caine confirmed to Variety that the 70-year acting veteran is not retiring and is currently reviewing two scripts for future projects. This comes after reports circulated of Caine's retirement on Friday, October 15, 2021.

In a statement, Caine noted that he has been rising early for over half a century to act, and he doesn't plan to change his morning routine anytime soon:

“Regarding retirement, I’ve spent over 50 years getting up at 6 a.m. to make movies, and I’m not getting rid of my alarm clock!”

The Dark Knight actor also took to Twitter to personally debunk the rumors:

"I haven’t retired and not a lot of people know that."
