Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage Unexpectedly Breaks Black Widow Record on Opening Weekend

The theatrical box office has been a concern to all major motion studios since the global pandemic began in March 2020. In 2021, Marvel Studios has led the way with Black Widow making $80 million and Shang-Chi: The Legend of The Ten Rings making $75.3 million at the opening weekend box office, respectively. 

LET THERE BE CARNAGE DOMINATES BOX OFFICE

Sony Pictures' Venom: Let There Be Carnage has grossed $90.1 million at the opening weekend domestic box office, Deadline reports. This is the best start to any movie at the box office since 2019's Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. 

The sequel within Sony's Spider-Man Universe also overshot tracking predictions of $60 - 80 million.
