Harry Styles Breaks Silence on Joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Marvel Studios is over a week into its latest theatrical run with Chloé Zhao’s Eternals. With an all-star roster of cast members and a story that pushed the boundaries of Marvel storytelling further than ever before, the movie clearly made an impact on both the MCU itself along with its fanbase upon arrival.

While the core movie made its mark with a tale of the Eternals teaming up to stop the birth of a new Celestial, as per the usual MCU standard, the post-credits scenes set up a world of possibilities for future stories.

One of these opened the door for Kit Harington’s rise to Black Knight status, even teasing the first signs of Mahershala Ali’s presence as Blade in the MCU. However, the talk of the town for the past few weeks has been the first look at pop singer Harry Styles’ Marvel debut as the intergalactic playboy Eros, more commonly known as Starfox.

Now, with some time having passed since Eternals made its full release, Styles has spoken about his inclusion in the MCU for the first time.

Dazed Digital spoke with MCU newcomer Harry Styles about his new role as Eros/Starfox in Marvel Studios' Eternals

Although he admitted he's only in the film for a moment, Styles expressed gratitude for getting to join this franchise as the brother of Thanos and specifically for getting to work with director Chloé Zhao:

“I’m only in right at the very end. But who didn’t grow up wanting to be a superhero, you know? It was a great experience and I’m so grateful to have gotten to work with Chloé.”

Harry Styles Grateful to Play Starfox

Harry Styles' unexpected role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe had been circling in rumors for the past few months, although there were no signs pointing to him playing a character as big as Starfox. Taking into account that Starfox's brother is the Mad Titan Thanos, it seems clear that the MCU rookie is in for an important part of the MCU Cosmic's future.

Styles himself appears to be thrilled to take on this challenge, which comes with easily the biggest movie role he's portrayed after a widely successful singing career. Becoming an MCU star has turned into a milestone event in Hollywood for actors of all experience levels, although it appears that Styles has imagined getting this chance for a long time already.

The big mystery now is this - where will fans see Harry Styles' Starfox in future movies?

With MCU Cosmic playing such a big role in advancing the MCU's narrative, and with Thanos' presence still lurking in the background, Eros has a wide range of options for stories he could join down the road. No matter what those specifics turn out to be, Styles is more than ready for anything that comes in his direction.

Eternals is now playing in theaters worldwide.
