Marvel Reveals Shang-Chi's Brother In New Deleted Scene
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is the 25th theatrical entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's massive Phase 4 slate. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film stars Simu Liu as the titular martial artist, and he had a stellar Asian cast that included Awkwafina, Meng'er Zhang, and Tony Leung as the chief villain, the Mandarin.
Aside from its strong Asian ensemble, Shang-Chi also introduced another memorable MCU character in Florian Munteanu's Razor Fist. The Marvel villain served as one of Wenwu's loyal servants under the Ten Rings organization, but a previous interview has revealed that there is something more about his backstory.
Munteanu shared that "Wenwu gave [Razor Fist] a new life and purpose and a home," potentially hinting that he has close family ties to the Ten Rings leader. Now, a deleted scene from the movie has confirmed that Razor Fist is part of Shang-Chi's family circle.
Razor Fist Is Shang-Chi's Brother
Marvel Studios officially unveiled a brand new deleted scene for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, revealing the identity of the titular hero's brother.
The clip, which was titled "Two Sons," shows a never-before-seen moment at Wenwu's homecoming dinner for Shang-Chi and Xialing. In the scene, Wenwu reveals that Mattias a.k.a. Razor Fist as his adopted son.
The Ten Rings leader shared the story of how he discovered Mattias, admitting that the Romanian boy reminded him of his long lost son. The scene ends with Katy and Xialing mocking Mattias' razor fists, telling him that it should be named after an arm instead.

Will Shang-Chi and Razor Fist's Brotherhood Be Explored?
Shang-Chi's latest deleted scene shows Shaun's disapproval of Razor Fist's inclusion in the family. It is unknown why this story beat was omitted in the first film, but it's possible that it is being saved for a potential sequel.
The scene also showcases Wenwu's love for Shaun, considering that he is reminded of him when he found Mattias in Romania. This cements the Mandarin's ending in Shang-Chi, where he lets go of the rings for his son before ultimately sacrificing himself to the Dweller-in-Darkness.
Razor Fist was last seen alongside Xialing in the newly-reformed Ten Rings. This narrative trajectory establishes the idea that Xialing and Mattias' bond will likely be explored in the sequel or even the rumored Ten Rings spin-off series on Disney+.
By revealing Razor Fist as Shang-Chi and Xialing's adopted brother, it would have given deeper meaning to the siblings' encounter during the first film while also setting the stage for a more emotional encounter in a potential sequel.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is now streaming on Disney+.
