Ms. Marvel Disney+: New Footage Shows Kamala Khan Wearing Captain Marvel Costume
Marvel fans are already looking forward to their next Disney+ show in Hawkeye, which follows Jeremy Renner's Clint Barton as he meets Hailee Steinfeld's Kate Bishop. The Hawkeyes' Christmas adventure will be the last streaming series of 2021; but there is one that the world should already have: Ms. Marvel.
Originally set to drop at some point this year, for unknown reasons, the show got delayed. As of today, it was announced that the show won't be dropping until the summer of 2022. That's quite a long time.
Hopefully, the wait will be worth it. However, the show seems to be making some pretty significant changes to the character, so there's bound to be some pushback amongst the fans.
Either way, Disney has released some new footage from the show to help tide audiences over while they wait for the first Pakistani-American Muslim superhero to hit screens worldwide.
Iman Vellani's Ms. Marvel Has Arrived
During Disney+ Day, Marvel Studios unveiled brand-new footage from the upcoming Ms. Marvel series on Disney+, which is set to release summer 2022.
As seen above, Kamala Khan in the MCU still remains a big Captain Marvel fan. While this won't be her final outfit, it's still heartwarming to see the hero in her first home-grown super suit.
Another shot shows audiences Iman Vellani's admiration for Carol Danvers as she looks up at a statue of the hero. It's interesting to see how well known the hero is to the wider world, especially since, from what audiences have seen, Danvers hasn't been on Earth all that much.
Next, audiences can see Matt Lintz's Bruno Carrelli next to Vellani's Kamala Khan. From the looks of it, it sure does look like he's helping her come to terms with her power. There's a possibility that the secret identity aspect of the Ms. Marvel character will get downplayed in her MCU adaptation.
The next frame showcases Kamala likely inheriting her powers—or, at least, the completely changed and revamped powerset that leaked. So don't go in expecting some stretchy shenanigans.
Ms. Marvel's New Powers Quickly Teased
It's a little odd that Marvel Studios didn't offer more of a glimpse of Kamala's new powerset. With it being such a massive change, one would think they'd want to get audiences more comfortable with it as soon as they could.
Instead, fans got bits and pieces of footage that wasn't all too different from what was shown at last year's Disney Investor Day; which is disappointing, to say the least. At the very least, a money shot of her final costume would have been great—after all, it's already been revealed via marketing materials.
After her Disney+ series, Kamala Khan will be wasting no time in continuing her adventures, with her character set to join both Carol Danvers and Monica Rambaue in the upcoming The Marvels film. One of the more fun dynamics to witness with Ms. Marvel in the comics are her interactions with Captain Marvel; her hero. So it's great that the MCU won't be dragging its feet to get there.
While fans wait for Ms. Marvel to release next summer, Hawkeye will be hitting the service in just under two weeks on November 24.
