Rosario Dawson's Ahsoka: Rumored TV Release Date Window Revealed
Although it's been a while since Lucasfilm had any live-action releases in the Star Wars universe, fans are gearing up for a huge offering from the galaxy far, far away in the near future. While much of the attention is currently focused on shows like Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi, along with the upcoming The Book of Boba Fett, Rosario Dawson will also be making her return to this franchise as the lead in the Ahsoka series.
After going through an epic run in animation from The Clone Wars and Rebels, Ahsoka Tano made her live-action debut in late November 2020 during Episode 13 of The Mandalorian, which was appropriately entitled "Chapter 13: The Jedi." This set the stage for Ahsoka to continue in the narrative as a full-blown adult Jedi before she got her own solo series via an announcement at Disney Investor Day 2020.
Ahsoka has largely flown under the radar since its announcement, although it made headlines in October with the shocking return that Hayden Christensen will return to the role of Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. Now, with the start of filming on the way, fans may have an idea of when to expect the series to hit Disney+.
When Will Ahsoka Release on Disney Plus?
The Bespin Bulletin revealed that Disney and Lucasfilm are aiming to release Rosario Dawson's Ahsoka series on Disney+ in Spring 2023. This comes alongside rumors that the show will begin shooting sometime in early 2022.
Ahsoka Coming to Disney+ in 2023?
As is the case for all Star Wars projects these days, even in the Disney+ slate, Ahsoka has a great deal of work ahead before it's ready to make its full debut for fans. This rumored release date makes the wait for its arrival close to 18 months, with rumors that filming will take somewhere between four and six months to complete next year.
Dawson will be teaming up with Star Wars expert Dave Filoni as the series' director and executive producer, while Marvel/Star Wars icon Jon Favreau will also executive produce, although there are very few details pertaining to her next mission after The Mandalorian. Rumors have pointed to the Jedi Master going on a search for Ezra Bridger with Grand Admiral Thrawn and Sabine Wren in the mix as well.
With three Disney+ shows and no new movies expected to come before Ahsoka, Dawson's series may still fly under the radar for the foreseeable future. Thankfully, considering the character's status as a fan favorite for most of the past decade, the series will surely make its way back into the spotlight once more definitive progress is made.
Ahsoka is rumored to release on Disney+ in Spring 2023.
