Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 Receives Promising Trailer Update

Spider-Man Into Spiderverse 2

Spider-Man has long been one of the most famous superheroes in existence. His reign has spread across mediums, from film to TV and games––everyone knows the webhead. This is probably why Spider-Man: No Way Home is dominating the online conversation. The movie's advance tickets recently went on sale, and the internet can barely handle it. However, there's another massive Spidey outing that might prove just as big: Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2.

Audiences have consistently touted the first film as the best adventure the webslinger has ever had, and it didn't even star Peter Parker; instead, Miles Morales took the spotlight. The film followed him after the events of Peter Parker's death as he learned to deal with his new Spidey powers on his own.

Miles teamed up with the likes of Spider-Gwen, Spider-Ham, Spider-Man Noire, and Peni Parker as they figured out a way to save the Multiverse before Kingpin went and broke all of existence. The movie proved to be successful across all mediums.

So when can fans expect an update on Miles' second adventure?

An Update on the Spider-Verse

In an interview with FandangoSpider-Man: Man No Way Home producer Amy Pascal touched upon another big-time Spidey project: Into the Spider-Verse 2.

Pascal was quick to say that there was "nobody [who] could have done it better than [producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller]:"

"Yeah, it was... when I approached Chris and Phil about doing the Spider-Verse movies when I was still running Sony, I said, 'Can you guys figure out how to do an animated Spider-Man movie?' And the first thing they said to me was, 'Absolutely, if we do Spider-Verse and we do Miles.' And I'm like, 'Right on.' Because of course, it is in the comics, but nobody could have done it better than them."

As for the second outing with the two of them, Pascal teased that "it's going to be fantastic" while promising that Sony will "have something to show on that very soon" regarding the first footage.

Into The Spider-Verse Once Again

Word on what fans can expect for the second Spider-Verse film has been quiet.

For one, Oscar Isaac's Spider-Man 2099 is likely to play a vital role in the proceedings. Hailee Steinfeld's Spider-Gwen will also be returning as she dominates two significant Marvel roles.

As for the threat the webheads will face? Nothing is confirmed, but a previous rumor indicated that the villain Spot would be the main antagonist for the piece.

Spot has black portals all over his body and can use them in creative ways; with how minor the character usually is, Sony is likely to give him a big upgrade.

With the Multiverse on everyone's mind, it's undoubtedly something that would be smart to capitalize on. Perhaps a trailer will make its way to theaters alongside Spider-Man: No Way Home on December 17, 2021.

As for Into the Spider-Verse 2, the film is set to release on October 7, 2022.
