Star Wars Newcomer Jennifer Beals Reacts to Casting In Disney+'s Boba Fett Spin-off
As December creeps closer and closer, The Book of Boba Fett continues to gear up. The Disney+ series, which acts as a spin-off to The Mandalorian, will introduce Star Wars fans to the criminal underworld of Tattooine, with Boba Fett and Fennec Shand taking over where Jabba the Hutt and Bib Fortuna left off.
Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen will be reprising their respective roles as the characters, with other actors such as Pedro Pascal's Din Djarin possibly making appearances.
With the series set to debut on Disney+ on December 29, marketing is at an all-time high. The official poster was revealed about a month ago, and just recently, the first official trailer was released. The footage included action shots of both Boba Fett and Fennec Shand, and also teased the underworld that a large portion of the show will be set in.
It is also rumored that The Book of Boba Fett will showcase nine episodes, which is one more than the standard eight-episode format The Mandalorian follows.
As with any series, the opportunity to introduce new actors to the galaxy far, far away is also present in the upcoming show. With so many new characters being introduced, both new and familiar faces get the chance to leave their mark on the world of Star Wars. One particular actress, who is known for her roles in Flashdance and The Book of Eli, has already expressed her gratitude for starring in the series.
Jennifer Beals on Being in The Book of Boba Fett
Actress Jennifer Beals, who was seen in the recent trailer portraying a Twi'lek, has recently expressed her excitement about being in the show via Twitter.
The Flashdance star said that she is "honored" to be in the galaxy far, far away, and also alluded to being a fan herself, comparing her optimism to that of a child's.
So honored to be a part of the #StarWars family 🙏 The little kid in me is jumping up and down. 😊
Opportunities in Star Wars
Jennifer Beals is one of many actors to reveal their excitement about playing in a Star Wars project. Fans of the franchise have to be pleased when they see that a character is being portrayed by someone who is familiar with the history of the universe and is also happy in their role.
Other actors in the past, such as Ewan McGregor who plays Obi-Wan Kenobi, have revealed that they were fans of the films before they were even cast for their roles, and more times than not, that seems to elevate their performances.
Aladdin star Mena Massoud is taking a similar approach when it comes to the role of Ezra Bridger in the upcoming Ahsoka series, but he is expressing his fandom of Star Wars before the role has been officially cast in hopes that he can be the one to land it.
It is unknown at this time whether Beals' role in The Book of Boba Fett will only be for one episode, or if she will be a recurring face in multiple chapters, but it is always welcoming to see the people behind the makeup or the masks be thankful for the opportunity.
The Book of Boba Fett will premiere on Disney+ on December 29.
