Tom Holland Warns of Heavy Violence In Spider-Man: No Way Home

MCU star Tom Holland is only a few weeks away from making his long-awaited return as Spider-Man in what will likely be Marvel Studios' biggest film of the year - Spider-Man: No Way Home. The franchise's 27th movie is already set to be one of the most grand-scale adventures to date, particularly considering that it's not an Avengers team-up outing.

No Way Home is largely focused on two major stories joining into one narrative as Peter Parker faces both his identity crisis and the threat of the Multiverse coming apart at the seams. This will only be compounded by appearances from a handful of powerful villains from past Spider-Man movies that will give Holland's hero and his team everything they can handle.

Trailers and TV spots have already given just a tease of how intense the battles in No Way Home will be, particularly with Peter looking bruised and bloodied in multiple shots. According to a recent interview with the movie's leading star, that's only the start of what's coming on this front.

More Violence Than Ever in Spider-Man: No Way Home

In an interview with TV Globo, via Twitter, Spider-Man: No Way Home star Tom Holland teased just how much violence is coming in the fights from his third solo MCU movie.

Not only will fans see Holland fighting in "very violent" ways never seen before, but his hero will also find himself in a "fight or flight" situation that he's never had to experience in his past MCU movies.

"There are some fight scenes in this movie that are very violent. And it's a fighting style different from what we've seen before. But really you will get to see Spider-Man using his fists in a 'fight or flight' situation."

Spider-Man Facing Fight or Flight

Spider-Man: No Way Home is already rumored to be one of the most emotional solo movies yet for Spider-Man, particularly with the threat of losing someone close to him ever-present. With these quotes from Holland, it's abundantly clear that he will be taking as much of a beating physically as he will emotionally through the plot of his threequel.

Throughout all forms of media, while Spider-Man is certainly capable of laying a beatdown on enemies if he has to, he's largely known for his evasive maneuvers and web-slinging skills. This has been true in both previous live-action Spider-Man movie franchises too, although both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield utilized their strength and fighting skills when necessary.

Holland's specific mention of new fight scenes and a different fighting style can only mean a new kind of intensity that fans will see out of the MCU's core web-slinger in this thrilling adventure. How he engages in fisticuffs against a swarm of bad guys is still being kept under wraps, but fans should buckle up for a fight of epic proportions.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is set to debut in theaters on December 17, 2021.
