Tom Holland's Spider-Man Rumored to Lose Loved Ones In No Way Home

Aunt May, Ned, Peter Parker, MJ, Happy

The wait for Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures' Spider-Man: No Way Home has taken on a life of its own, exceeding anything even seen by blockbusters like Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Due to a lack of a marketing campaign for long stretches of time and various leaked images that may or may not be real, not to mention wild casting announcements, the hype for this movie is more than palpable.

Thus far, fans got a fair share of information on the film from the first trailer in August, which teased Peter Parker as a fugitive of the law before the Multiverse began coming apart at the seams. This footage, along with the movie's recently released official poster, gave just a tease of the intense action Peter Parker will face in the form of villains like Doctor Octopus and the Green Goblin.

Taking everything into account, Tom Holland's web-slinger is in for a bigger solo story than fans have seen in any Spider-Man movie to date. Even considering this, a new rumor is giving fans an idea of exactly the kind of stress the young hero will have to handle in his third MCU solo story.

Spider-Man Set to Suffer?

Insider Daniel Richtman revealed through his @RPK_NEWS1 Twitter account that Spider-Man: No Way Home will make Tom Holland's Peter Parker truly suffer.

While no details were offered on how this will happen, Richtman appeared excited by the idea that Peter will deal with emotional trauma in this new movie like he never has before and mentioned that a part of the character is that he "lose[s] everyone he loves:"

"Spider-Man: No Way Home will do to Holland's Peter what I always wanted - make him suffer. I don't hate Holland's Peter or anything but that's the whole point of the character. He has to suffer and lose everyone he loves."

What Will Spider-Man Lose In Threequel?

Peter Parker is known as one of the most emotionally challenged characters in comics, regularly having to deal with losing important figures like his Uncle Ben through the decades. While the character has dealt with other traumatic events in Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's movies, the MCU has only hinted at the character's troubled life through his adventures.

Through his five MCU outings to date, Tom Holland's hero has only hinted at the death of his own Uncle Ben, although he fought in the final battle of Avengers: Endgame and is still handling the death of Tony Stark. Now, with this rumor teasing even more trauma on the way, Peter may be in for the most intense journey of his young life.

It's still unclear exactly what Peter will have to deal with in No Way Home outside of his fights with a handful of Multiversal villains in his way.

The first trailer teased plenty of stress for Marisa Tomei's Aunt May along with both Ned and MJ, although there are no signs to whether any of their lives would be in danger at this time. No matter what comes to be when the full movie debuts, fans can expect to go through an emotional rollercoaster as Peter and his family push through the challenges ahead of them.

Spider-Man: No Way Home will debut in theaters on December 17, 2021.
