Ant-Man 3: Leaked Photo Teases Kang's Appearance
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is set to cap off Paul Rudd's MCU trilogy, but evidence suggests that it will be a thrilling chapter for the size-shifting hero. This is mainly due to the confirmed arrival of Jonathan Majors' Kang the Conqueror, Marvel's powerful time-traveling villain.
Directed by Peyton Reed, the upcoming project reunites Paul Rudd's Scott Lang with Evangeline Lilly's Hope Van Dyne for a Quantum Realm-themed adventure. Rounding out the cast are Michael Douglas' Hank Pym, Michelle Pfeiffer's Janet Van Dyne, and Kathryn Newton's Cassie Lang.
Quantumania's plot details are still shrouded in secrecy, but it is widely expected that Team Ant-Man will do a deep dive into the mysterious Quantum Realm. Kang's inclusion also indicates that Scott and his allies will be in for a thrilling challenge across time.
Reed recently confirmed that Quantumania's production wrapped, but reshoots could be underway in the future.
As fans wait for more concrete developments about the movie, brand-new promotional art has emerged online, likely teasing Kang's MCU design.
Kang's Ant-Man 3 Look Potentially Revealed
The Cosmic Circus uncovered promotional art for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania from a stunt performer who previously worked with Marvel Studios, potentially giving fans a first look at Jonathan Majors' Kang the Conqueror.
The image shows a cracked Ant-Man helmet, and its reflection appears to feature the MCU design of the time-traveling villain.
By looking closely, Majors' character design seems to be comic-accurate, with the villain sporting a similar helmet and super suit from the pages of Marvel Comics:
Ace Ruele, who previously worked in the stunt department of Eternals, first shared Quantumania's crew shirt on social media, with a caption saying:
"To a creature from marvel eternals to something in the new Ant-Man to come in 2023. Ruelellion is NOW!"
Ant-Man vs Kang: An Intense Showdown
While this promotional art doesn't hint at the film's official story beats, many would agree that it gives the impression that Scott Lang will likely experience a beatdown at the hands of Kang the Conqueror.
The character could experience a significant personal shift if that happens in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, especially considering the hero's past battles with his previous foes. During 2015's Ant-Man, Scott's showdown with Darren Cross' Yellowjacket left the size-shifting hero unscathed, and the same was true with his fight with Ghost during 2018's Ant-Man and the Wasp.
During Quantumania, it seems that Kang will pull out all of the stops when it comes to physically hurting Scott, thus leading to his cracked helmet. This is on top of the possible emotional torment that Kang could utilize to threaten the MCU hero.
It's also worth pointing out that Jonathan Majors previously (and hilariously) teased that his Kang would kill Paul Rudd's Marvel hero.
It is unknown if Kang's design in the promotional art is the character's MCU appearance. Given that the film currently has a 2023 release timeline, this may be a placeholder.
On the flip side, there is also a chance that the image should serve as an inspiration for the character's final look, potentially leaning toward a comic-accurate design.
Fans will eventually find out when Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania premieres in theaters on July 28, 2023.
