Marisa Tomei Spoiled Spider-Man: No Way Home's Ending to Her Therapist
Spider-Man: No Way Home is all anyone is talking about right now. While Marvel has other projects coming up and a series running Disney+ right now, the Spidey threequel has dominated the conversation for what feels like months at this point. Despite the film being less than two weeks away, still relatively little is known about the project.
Just when fans think they have a grasp on some aspect of No Way Home, Sony and Marvel Studios go and make alterations to released footage or make a comment that seems to be the contrary of what people are thinking. It's hard to discern what is real and what is fake about this movie, and honestly, that has been one of the best parts of this lead-up.
Now, actors like the movie's star Tom Holland and the various returning villains know what happens in the surprisingly "dark" film, but even they have been going to extreme lengths to keep the Multiversal plot specifics under lock and key. Returning MCU veteran Marisa Tomei recently touched on the measures she took in this regard.
Marisa Had to Tell Spill About Spider-Man
According to Spider-Man: No Way Home star Marisa Tomei, her therapist is the only person in her life that knows about the upcoming Spidey threequel's ending.
In an interview with BackstageOL, the Aunt May actress addressed the project's intense secrecy, mentioning that she "was under oath...and had to tell someone," so her therapist was her go-to:
“Only my therapist knows the ending. I had to be under oath and I had to tell someone.”
It's Okay, Aunt May
One can only imagine the pressure that some of these actors must be under in keeping the wraps on these hyper-sensitive Marvel projects. And with Spider-Man: No Way Home and all its potential Multiverse shenanigans, that only seems to have ratcheted up ten-fold.
Now, this is likely just a case of someone going to somebody they know that can trust and confiding in them, but what if it goes deeper than that? What could possibly happen in No Way Home's final act that could cause such emotional strife that it would cause somebody to have to talk to their therapist about it?
It has been mentioned before that this Spidey epic will get a little darker than past adventures with Tom Holland's wall-crawler, and a tease of Peter losing someone close to him could be the cause of this situation here.
However, judging from the tone in Tomei's voice from the interview, it simply seems that this is a much more jovial situation and likely not one that was caused by severe emotional trauma. It sounds like she simply had to go to someone to avoid bursting in anticipation, and a therapist was the best place for her to open up and feel safe doing so.
Spider-Man: No Way Home hits theaters on December 17.
