New Spider-Man: No Way Home Posters Feature Lots of Green Goblin Bombs & Doc Ock Tentacles

Spider-Man Movie Doctor Octopus and Green Goblin

Spider-Man: No Way Home's highly-anticipated premiere is inching closer, so marketing has ramped up in the past few weeks. Directed by Jon Watts, the threequel picks up right after the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home, where Peter Parker's secret identity was revealed to the world. As a result, Parker seeks the assistance of Doctor Strange, thus accidentally unleashing previous Spider-Man villains into the MCU through a botched spell.

Two villains who are confirmed to return are Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus and Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movies.

Molina's Marvel antagonist was featured prominently in the film's trailers as he goes up against Tom Holland's web-slinger. Meanwhile, Dafoe's sinister character was teased throughout the promotional run, but Holland eventually confirmed the actor's inclusion by recalling their first meeting on set.

The villainous pair's exact roles are still being kept under wraps, but it is expected that they will make Parker's life more complicated in the film.

Now, new posters featuring the villain's signature weapons have been revealed to celebrate their Marvel comebacks.

The Returns of Doc Ock & Green Goblin

These new posters could hint that Doctor Octopus and Green Goblin will have significant roles in Spider-Man: No Way Home, especially considering what's been revealed in the past months.

In the second trailer, Otto Octavius is seen locked up inside a prison in the Sanctum Sanctorum, and he is being interrogated by Peter Parker, Ned, and MJ. It's possible that he could serve as the trio's guide in rounding out the villains that the Multiverse unleashed, thus giving him a more prominent role. This plot point could come right after the bridge fight between Octavius and Parker, although that hasn't been confirmed.

Meanwhile, Norman Osborn was rumored to be No Way Home's main villain. This rumor has not been confirmed yet due to the film's heavily guarded secrets, but many feel that his overarching presence in marketing could hint that this could be true. This new poster is more proof of that speculation.

If this is true, No Way Home could serve as Osborn's revenge against the web-slinger.

On the flip side, there's also a chance that the presence of Doc Ock's tentacles and Green Goblin's pumpkin bombs on the poster is simply Sony's strategy to bring in more viewers, mainly due to the idea that the pair are recognizable villains from past Spider-Man projects.

Whatever the case, Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus' returns are bad news for the MCU's web-slinger, and it will be interesting to find out how the young hero will overcome this new challenge.

Spider-Man: No Way Home will premiere in theaters on December 17, 2021.
