Boba Fett Episode 5 Features Cameo From Luke Skywalker Actor

Luke Skywalker, Boba Fett

The latest installment of The Book of Boba Fett just hit Disney+, kicking off the back half of the series that has been focused on setting up Temuera Morrison's Boba Fett as a criminal kingpin in the underworld of Tatooine. For months now, rumors have swirled that the show would include a multitude of cameos from across the galaxy. Episode 5 fulfilled those rumors as it featured multiple appearances from familiar faces.

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Episode 5 of The Book of Boba Fett.

Episode 5 opens with Pedro Pascal returning to the world of Star Wars as Din Djarin, also known as The Mandalorian. His appearance was heavily teased at the end of Episode 4 when his iconic theme briefly played, and many fans suspected that he would be coming into the fold in this episode.

Following the action-filled opening scene was the intro for The Book of Boba Fett that features the show's title card, followed by the title of the episode, which was "Chapter 5: Return of The Mandalorian." The rest of the episode strictly followed Din Djarin and bridged the gap between where his story left off at the end of The Mandalorian Season 2 and where the timeline is now in The Book of Boba Fett.

However, the bounty hunter wasn't the only familiar face in the episode, as the actor that portrayed Luke Skywalker in The Mandalorian's second season finale also made a brief appearance.

Max Lloyd-Jones' Return to Star Wars

The Season 2 finale of The Mandalorian showcased the return of Luke Skywalker. Mark Hamill reprised his role as the character through CGI when he lowered his hood and revealed his face, but actor Max Lloyd-Jones was the man behind the cloak as he served as Hamill's body double.

Lloyd-Jones returned to the galaxy far, far away in the latest episode of The Book of Boba Fett, appearing as a new character instead of reprising his role as Skywalker.

Near the end of the latest installment, Din Djarin was testing out his new N-1 class starfighter in space just outside Tatooine when two officers of the New Republic confronted him in their X-Wings to question him about what he was doing.

Lloyd-Jones portrayed the main officer in the scene and even delivered a few lines of dialogue as opposed to his behind-the-scenes role in The Mandalorian.

It is possible that Max Lloyd-Jones made a lasting impression on Jon Favreau and his crew when he was brought on The Mandalorian to be Mark Hamill's body double, which could be why they gave him a bit of a larger role in The Book of Boba Fett

However, it is worth theorizing that he was cast because Luke Skywalker will be making another cameo in the "Mando-verse," maybe even as soon as the next chapter of The Book of Boba Fett.

The latest episode of the new Star Wars streaming series ended with Din Djarin telling Ming-Na Wen's Fennec Shand that he needed to pay a visit to Grogu before helping Boba Fett deal with the Pyke syndicate.

If this encounter happens on-screen, then it is almost a guarantee that Luke will be present and fans will get a glimpse of him training Force-sensitive younglings at his Jedi Temple that was mentioned in the sequel trilogy. Due to how big Luke's shocking appearance was in The Mandalorian, Favreau likely wanted to keep his cameo in The Book of Boba Fett a surprise as well.

Lloyd-Jones' casting as a New Republic officer could also be a tactic used to explain away why he was included on the cast list for The Book of Boba Fett or why he would have been seen on set, in order to cover up another cameo from Luke Skywalker.

Episode 5 of The Book of Boba Fett is now streaming on Disney+.
