Marvel's Moon Knight Actor Gaspard Ulliel Dies From Ski Accident

Marvel Moon Knight Gaspard Ulliel Dies Ski Accident

Moon Knight will kick off the MCU's 2022 slate on March 30 as Oscar Issac's Marc Spector finally makes his live-action debut. The newly-released trailer revealed the series as Marvel Studios' darkest venture yet as it explores Spector's mental challenges and expands the mystical side of the world with Egyptian gods.

In addition to Issac's Moon Knight and Ethan Hawke's mysterious villain, the Disney+ series will see French actor Gaspard Ulliel make his MCU debut as Anton Mogart, better known as Midnight Man. Mogart is a master thief and martial artist in Marvel Comics and a popular villain of Moon Knight's.

Unfortunately, recent news has revealed that the actor responsible for bringing Midnight Man to life for the first time lost his life a tragic accident.

Gaspard Ulliel Dies Age 37

According to DeadlineMoon Knight star Gaspard Ulliel passed away at age 37 on January 19, 2022. This came after being hospitalized the previous day from serious injuries suffered while skiing in the Alps.

The award-winning French actor suffered a collision on the ski slopes in the Savoie region and was subsequently taken by helicopter to a hospital in Grenoble.

Ulliel plays Anton Mogart aka Midnight Man in Marvel's upcoming Moon Knight Disney+ series.

Ulliel's Role in Marvel's Moon Knight

Gaspard Ulliel spent much of his career at the forefront of the French film industry with his portrayal of the titular character in 2007's Hannibal Rising being among his few Hollywood roles.

Moon Knight was set to be a major milestone in the actor's career and a potential stepping stone into the American market. Following Moon Knight, Ulliel will make his final on-screen appearance in the French flick More Than Ever

It's a tragedy that Ulliel will never get to see the fruits of his labor in Moon Knight. Hopefully, Midnight Man will have an expansive villainous role in the Disney+ series and have the chance to make a big impact on viewers.

Whether Midnight Man would have otherwise reappeared in future projects and seasons,. Although, given Marvel and Disney's reaction to Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman's passing, it's unlikely they would recast the role and may instead opt to leave the character behind.

Moon Knight will premiere on March 30, 2022, exclusively on Disney+. The Direct sends our condolences to Ulliel and loved ones.
