Peacemaker Season 2 Receives Promising Update
One of the most popular shows in the world is James Gunn's Peacemaker. Yes, one of the biggest A-holes in The Suicide Squad is now leading his own spinoff series; and John Cena is absolutely killing it. Clearly, the character has struck a chord and people worldwide are enjoying his crude antics.
The show sees Cena's titular character team up with an entirely new team, but with some returning faces for viewers. Steve Agee and Jennifer Holland's ARGUS Agents are back from The Suicide Squad once again, working under newcomer Chukwudi Iwuji's Clemson Murn to hunt down mysterious targets labeled as butterflies.
While the show has had plenty of action, the true purpose of the adventure is to take a deep dive into the inner workings of John Cena's peace-loving anti-hero.
As much as viewers have been enjoying the first season, one question is at the front of everyone's minds: will there be a second season?
Promising Update For Second Season of Peacemaker
In an interview with Deadline, Peacemaker creator and director James Gunn spoke about the prospects of a second season for his series.
The writer and director noted that since "[they're] the biggest show in the world right now," the odds are in their favor:
"There's a really good chance of that... We're the biggest show in the world right now."
Gunn continued to note that the "show is doing extraordinarily well... [and] we all like doing it:"
"The show is doing extraordinarily well, and we're excited, we all like doing it, we just need to cross some 'T's' and dot some 'I's, which is basically me."
The outlet reached out to HBO Max for any comments about a second Suicide Squad spinoff or Peacemaker Season 2, but received no word back.
More Peacemaker?
With the passion and love that James Gunn has expressed for this project, seemingly even more than he ever did for The Suicide Squad, the prospects of another season were always there. Now, with the show's runaway success, it seems all but a given.
While Gunn has admitted to working on another separate DC project, if HBO Max were to greenlight a second season, the writer and director would undoubtedly have no issue juggling the two.
He is currently working in the world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Gunn has stated several times that it's more than likely his final outing with the group of misfits––which would leave his schedule wide open to work on whatever projects he wants, DC or otherwise.
Peacemaker airs weekly every Thursday on HBO Max.
