Spider-Man: No Way Home Concept Art Shows Green Goblin & Doc Ock Deleted Fight

Spider-Man: No Way Home featured many memorable scenes from start to finish. The latest MCU threequel is Tom Holland's third solo adventure, and the film took it up a notch by adding the concept of the Multiverse to its narrative. No Way Home not only featured returning MCU characters like Doctor Strange and Happy Hogan, but it also showcased the arrival of previous villains from past Spider-Man movies like Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus.

No Way Home created unique entrances to most of the Multiversal villains. Jamie Foxx's Electro entered the scene by absorbing energy from the MCU then ultimately transforming himself into an entirely new version, while Thomas Hayden Church's Sandman protected Holland's Peter from Electro first before realizing that the MCU's web-slinger is not his version of the wallcrawler.

Meanwhile, Doc Ock and Green Goblin's entrance served as the main footage in the film's marketing that primarily focused on the freeway battle. However, in the actual film, Peter's first encounter was cut short while the fight highlighted more of the banter between him and Octavius.

Now, a special look at the film's freeway battle has emerged.

Green Goblin & Doc Ock Unite

Spider-Man: No Way Home concept artist Sean Hargreaves, via ArtStation, shared a new batch of concept art from the MCU threequel, showcasing an alternate look at the film's bridge battle.

Concept art by Hargreaves confirms that, at one point, Osborn and Octavius teamed up to attack Peter on the freeway:

Another keyframe also shows Doc Ock and Goblin attacking innocent villains, displaying their full-blown villainy:

Hargreaves shared that Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus' freeway attack was "more epic originally." The artist shared an overview of the entire area destroyed as part of the reveal:

The Marvel artist also gave a preview of the chaos that ensued in the initial concept, showing Tom Holland's Spider-Man trying to save a collapsed freeway:

Another angle of the entire freeway area should give fans an idea of Doc Ock and Green Goblin's dominance upon their arrival in the MCU:

A Multiversal Villain Team-Up

This latest batch of concept art should give fans an idea of the massive scale of No Way Home's freeway battle and how much of it got scrapped during the movie's development.

Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus are two iconic villains from Spider-Man's rogues' gallery, making it a given that the pair's entrance in No Way Home should be memorable. While the movie managed to give the villains a worthy entrance, it seems that this batch of concept art would've cemented more of the pair's dominance from the start.

Seeing Osborn and Octavius would've been a sight to see. It would also generate intrigue, especially considering that both didn't fully engage in action sequences in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy.

Holland's Peter going up against Doc Ock and Green Goblin at the same time would also create thrilling action sequences that would've put the web-slinger's wit and strategy on full display.

No Way Home visual effects supervisor Kelly Port previously revealed that  the bridge fight between Peter and Doc Ock was initially "15 minutes long." It's safe to assume that some of the scrapped sequences are showcased in Hargreaves' concept art.

An extended sequence would've allowed more interactions between Peter, Octavius, and Osborn and presented more opportunities to showcase intense action and hard-hitting blows among the trio.

It remains to be seen if moments from the extended freeway battle will be included in No Way Home's deleted scenes. Whether they are included or not, this latest rundown of concept art should serve as a reminder of how epic the sequence would've been based on its initial design.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is now playing in theaters worldwide.
