While Marvel Studios is looking forward to big things ahead for the MCU, Avengers: Endgame still sits at the front of fans' minds as the franchise's biggest accomplishment. Becoming the second-highest-grossing movie ever made on the backs of MCU icons Tony Stark and Steve Rogers in 2019, the franchise's 22nd movie is one that fans still enjoy taking in.

Recently, cast and crew members from the penultimate Phase 3 movie have given fans a look behind-the-scenes at different experiences that made Endgame such a once-in-a-lifetime event. From Sebastian Stan's stories about filming difficulties to imagery of characters almost included in the final cut, the film seems to become more legendary with each passing year.

Leading the way in his final outing was Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark and Iron Man, who teamed up with Gwenyth Paltrow as Pepper Potts for their seventh MCU movie as an on-screen couple. Recently, Paltrow even shared a look into one of their more emotional moments from the story with a behind-the-scenes photo.

Paltrow Shares Look at Tony & Pepper from Endgame

MCU star Gwenyth Paltrow took to Instagram to share a look at herself and Robert Downey, Jr. from the set of Avengers: Endgame.

During an "ask me anything" session, a fan asked Paltrow if she could post any behind-the-scenes material featuring Iron Man. She then posted a selfie with Downey lying in a hospital bed wearing a fingertip pulse oximeter on his finger; he also has a large gash near his right eye.

This comes from an early scene where Tony is in bed after collapsing in front of the other Avengers in the Avengers compound. The movie's leading character had just returned to Earth after fighting Thanos, and he was clinging to life after running out of food and water on the Benetar.

Tony's Breaking Point in Avengers: Endgame

This moment featuring Tony and Pepper only had a few seconds of screen time, but it set up the feeling of helplessness that everyone felt in Endgame's opening moments. Paltrow's image also didn't include any of the post-production work that made Tony look even weaker and frailer as he collapsed on the floor due to pure exhaustion.

Giving the Stark family their well-deserved send-off, Avengers: Endgame provided fans with some of the most emotional moments in MCU history featuring Tony and Pepper. Before the two suited up together as Iron Man and Rescue for the final battle, this moment that Paltrow shared highlighted just how bad things got for Earth's Mightiest Heroes after Avengers: Infinity War.

For the time being, it's unclear if or when Paltrow or Downey will return to their roles for any future MCU projects. But even if Endgame was their last time in the MCU, moments like this one helped send them out on an impressively high note.

Avengers: Endgame is available to stream on Disney+.
