New Doctor Strange 2 Merch Spoils Another Character's Variant
Fans are now just over a month out from finally seeing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The Benedict Cumberbatch-led project is set to take a deep dive into the Multiverse, hopefully fleshing out the concepts first introduced in Loki and then revisited in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Along for the ride is Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch, who may or may not be the cause of the madness.
The marketing for the film has showcased how fans should be ready to meet more than one Variant of characters they've come to know over the years. Just like Loki had to deal with his parallel selves, the Strange Squad will be introduced to the same surreal experience.
For instance, the very first trailer of the film showcases a darker version of Stephen Strange. Additional footage sees Supreme and Defender Strange make appearances. Wanda can be seen interacting with a likely Variant of herself in the latest trailer.
Now, thanks to some new merchandise for the movie, fans know of one more copycat who will be showing up.
New Variant Spoiled
New images have leaked featuring previously unseen merchandise for Marvel Studios' upcoming project Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
This is the first time fans have seen these figures. There are even some new depictions of Defender and Supreme Strange. Among them, however, is a Variant who had not previously been disclosed by Marvel.
The Variant in question is none other than Defender Wong, who, besides his outfit, doesn't have all too unique a look.
Doctor Strange Gets a Defender Wong
The first question that comes to mind is: what are the chances that the Wong seen strung up in the trailers is actually this alternate version of the character, and not the one from the MCU-Prime timeline? If this is the case, given his predicament, he might not last for long in his timeline.
Wong himself has gotten a lot of screen time recently, with even more rumored to be right around the corner. It makes sense, after all, considering he is the new Sorcerer Supreme—though, whether this new Variant is on the same career path remains unseen.
So far, there are two confirmed characters from this 'Defender' reality. But just how much time will they be getting on screen? A previous rumor had indicated that Defender Strange comes from the same timeline as Xochitl Gomez's America Chavez; who would just barely escape the timeline with her life as she catapults into the MCU.
Multiverse of Madness promises to be quite the adventure. From an unhinged Wanda, to Professor X's return, and now even more Variants—fans better brace themselves for everything this film has in store for them; all 2 hours and 6 minutes of it.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness releases on May 6.
