Riverdale Actor to Star In DC Superhero Movie, The Wonder Twins

While Warner Bros. work through the details of its merger with Discovery, the company’s cache of DC projects continues to expand in multiple universes. Much of this is taking place outside of the DCEU, with HBO Max confirming development for series centered on lesser-known characters that haven’t gotten their time in the spotlight, including the long-standing Wonder Twins.

Only a couple of months ago, news revealed that Black Adam writer Adam Sztykiel was set to write and direct the Wonder Twins’ live-action debut after his work with Dwayne Johnson on Black Adam. As DC trends toward utilizing younger new heroes such as Sasha Calle’s Supergirl, along with reports of to an Aqualad project being in the works, this dynamic duo seems to fit in perfectly with what’s on the way.

As is the case with both Batgirl and Dead Boy Detectives before it, there is no timeframe for when The Wonder Twins will premiere on HBO Max. This one appears to be even further behind in development, as there are no official announcements regarding who will actually star in the film - that is, until now.

The Wrap revealed Warner Bros. has tapped KJ Apa and Isabel May to play the titular heroes Zan and Jayna in The Wonder Twins, which is set for release on HBO Max.

Apa is known for his time as Archie Andrews on Riverdale, while May's biggest credits come on the CBS series Young Sheldon. The Wonder Twins features Black Adam writer Adam Sztykiel as its writer and director, and production is set to begin this summer.
