WandaVision Creator Teases Post-Credits Scenes
Marvel Studios didn't invent post-credits scenes in films, but it sure did popularize them to the point that some audiences expect them from big franchise blockbusters. Some fans have wondered, now that the studio has expanded into shows, how these kinda scenes will be implemented and if they'll have any at all.
Some of these scenes have actually become quite integral for audiences to understand the plot of other movies and even shows, such as the post-credits scene from Captain America: The Winter Solider having importance in WandaVision. Avengers: Endgame was even originally going to have one that would have led directly into WandaVision.
When asked about post-credit scenes for the series, showrunner Jac Schaeffer certainly doesn't deny WandaVision having any at all.
STAY VIGILANT FOR POST-CREDITS SCENES
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Jac Schaeffer was asked about whether post-credits scenes were discussed for every episode of WandaVision.
“We looked at the show in a lot of different ways and a lot of different structural ways, but yeah. That's a tricky question and I'm having trouble dodging it.”
Pushed further, she was asked if fans should stick around for the credits of the final episode of WandaVision with Schaeffer only saying that “...in any Marvel property, you should watch the thing in its entirety, no matter what. That's what I would say.”
SELECTIVE POST-CREDITS SCENES
Avengers: Endgame is the only movie from Marvel Studios to lack any post-credits scenes, which itself was intentional, so fans shouldn't be surprised that these series produced by Marvel Studios should have at least one too. Considering how carefully Jac Schaeffer dances around the question and continues to encourage fans to watch through the show's credits, it seems likely that WandaVision will have one at some point.
It is entirely expected that this tag scene will be in the last episode and connect to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness or even Spider-Man 3, as Schaeffer has also alluded to the fact that even Peter Parker's threequel film will connect to WandaVision.
How these scenes for Marvel Studios produced shows will work seems to be, at least for a limited series like WandaVision, that not all episodes will have one. In actuality, not all post-credits scenes in MCU movies are integral set up and sometimes are just for fun or a joke at the audience's expense.
It's easy to imagine a more comedic show like She-Hulk having humorous post-credits scenes at the end of each of their episodes, while more serious shows like The Falcon and the Winter Soldier only having one for the very last episode, hinting at what's to come next.
