WandaVision's Kathryn Hahn Teases Why Agnes Acted So Weird In Latest Episode

Paul Bettany, Kathryn Hahn WandaVision

The questions being asked by everyone watching WandaVision are pretty simple ones, yet they're still unanswered through the first three episodes: Who knows what? And how much do they know?

The mystery steeped into WandaVision has acted as the main antagonist of the show thus far. There has been speculation about almost every single character in the Disney+ series ranging from the town's mailman all the way to Wanda Maximoff herself. But it seems that the mystery is beginning to unravel as we see more residents of Westview show their true colors.

At the end of Episode 3, titled "Now In Color," we see Vision notice that his neighbors are acting very suspicious about Wanda... or Geraldine... or... Well, it's unclear what they are so suspicious about, but they definitely seem nervous. Ironically, it's Kathryn Hahn's nosey character Agnes especially seems like she doesn't want Vision to know all that she does.

PLAYING COY IN WESTVIEW

In a recent Q&A with Matt Webb Mitovich from TV Line, Mitovich was asked if Kevin Feige gave any hints to the true nature of Agnes in WandaVision. And while Feige reportedly tip-toed around the topic (how typical?), the interviewer did, however, get some answers from Kathryn Hahn on Agnes' "little performance" at the end of Episode 3.

"You’re going to have to keep watching. There’s a lot of acting going on for everybody, and a lot of layers, and questions that even the characters have, for sure."

WHAT IS AGNES UP TO?

This only continues the trend of actors and other crew members from WandaVision hinting at a deep, overall mystery without giving away too much — much like how the citizens of Westview seem to be acting as well.

Ever since fans got their first look at the cast list for WandaVision, the character Agnes has been bookmarked in everyone's mind as a potential key player in this odd illusion. Agnes of course is incredibly similar to Agatha Harkness, a witch from Marvel Comics that often acts as a mentor/adversary to the Scarlett Witch herself. And through the first two episodes of WandaVision, viewers quickly noticed a similarity to the comic book character — that Agnes was much more comfortable with Wanda than any other character in the show.

That all seemed to change during the most tense ten minutes of the show so far, taking place at the tail-end of "Now In Color." For the first time, Kathryn Hahn's character seemed to be flustered and worried about revealing too much information to Vision, as she stops their neighbor Herb from telling Vision why they're worried about Geraldine's presence in Westview. But then Agnes quickly turned back into the wise-cracking neighbor that everyone already adores, and she scurried away.

So now Agnes - the character that many thought would be the one pulling the strings behind the scenes of this illusion - is seemingly just as scared as everyone else in town. Fans continue to sit at home, enamored with the mystery of "who knows what?" But Hahn has made it clear that even the characters within the series aren't 100% sure of the roles they are playing, adding an even more confusing yet exciting layer to the mystery of WandaVision
