Spider-Man 3: Willem Dafoe Reportedly Filming Scenes For Tom Holland Movie
It is insane how large the number of villains joining Spider-Man 3 is, with the official count at two thus far with Jamie Foxx's Electro and Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus. As for rumors, Spider-Slayers and potentially even Kraven the Hunter could appear too, not to mention even more villains.
The Illuminerdi recently reported that both Willem Dafoe and Thomas Hayden Church were negotiating for roles in the threequel, reprising their roles respectively as the Green Goblin and Sandman. A new report from another outlet has corroborated this report, learning that one of these actors has actually been spotted on set.
ANOTHER RETURNING SPIDEY VILLAIN
According to GWW, the same sources that told them of Alfred Molina's involvement in Spider-Man 3 now tell them that Willem Dafoe has been seen on the set of the Marvel Studios/ Sony movie, presumably to film scenes as Norman Osborn.
WAIT, ISN'T NORMAN OSBORN DEAD?
Considering this is the same outlet that correctly reported on Alfred Molina joining the cast as Doc Ock, there is merit in this report. This would mean that Willem Dafoe will be the third villain in Spider-Man 3, returning to play an already deceased character. Giving more credence to the theory that these villains will not be the original iteration of these characters, as Jamie Foxx already let slip himself.
Additionally, it was reported that the majority of these returning villains would sport new designs, likely to indicate further the idea that these aren't the same characters from the Sam Raimi or Marc Webb films. The same entertainment scooper who reported Molina joining also indicated that these wouldn't just be cameos either but integral to the film.
It seems like every other month, fans learn about a new villain joining the cast, and with filming expected to last a few more weeks, there's still time for more surprises.
