WandaVision's Agatha Theme Song Becomes iTunes #1 Most Popular Soundtrack
With only two weeks remaining in Marvel Studios' first venture onto Disney+, WandaVision, the hype is building as fans wait for what will become of the unusual couple's story within Wanda's Hex. "Episode 7" alone brought two major MCU reveals as Monica Rambeau made her final push into her evolution as Photon and Agnes revealed her true identity as the witch Agatha Harkness.
Throughout the first six weeks of WandaVision, Marvel has been utilizing music as one of the most prominent ways to set the show into each decade of TV sitcom history, which was shown in full again throughout "Episode 7." While most of the episode set the stage for the 2000s mockumentary sitcom tributes, the ending went fully 1960's with a theme song for Agatha Harkness directly inspired by The Munsters.
As it turns out, that song is now one of the most popular songs in the world only a few days after its debut.
"AGATHA ALL ALONG" HITS #1 ON THE CHARTS
Via Pop Vortex, the Kathryn Hahn-sung "Agatha All Along" from "Episode 7" of WandaVision is the #1 ranked soundtrack song on iTunes after debuting on Tuesday. The rest of the top five soundtracks go as follows:
- "Agatha All Along" (feat. Kathryn Hahn, Eric Bradley, Greg Whipple, Jasper Randall & Gerald White), WandaVision
- "Shallow" by Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper
- "CAN'T STOP THE FEELING!" by Justin Timberlake
- "Tigress & Tweed" by Andra Day
- "A Thousand Years" by Christina Perri
WANDAVISION ON TOP OF THE MUSIC WORLD
It's clear that "Agatha All Along" was stuck in the heads of millions of fans after its debut in "Episode 7' of WandaVision. Its unexpected arrival and its ridiculously catchy nature have fans from every corner of the MCU fandom singing it over and over again.
Even though the list only includes one other recently released song with "Tigress & Tweed" releasing in 2021, it's still quite an impressive feat for a Marvel Studios production to hold the top spot for an original song. Special credit needs to be given to Kathryn Hahn as well, who not only plays the villainous Agatha Harkness but also lent her musical talents as one of the lead singers in this number.
It will be interesting to see how long "Agatha All Along" remains at the top of this chart, especially as Agatha plays a new role through the course of WandaVision's last two episodes. No matter how long it stays on top of the charts, it's a remarkable accomplishment for which Marvel Studios should feel quite proud.
WandaVision will continue when "Episode 8" premieres on Friday, March 26, 2021.
