Marvel's Ant-Man 3 Working Title Teases Chaotic Disaster

It's hard to believe it's almost been two years since Ant-Man and the Wasp hit theaters — to mixed reception — just after the game-changing cliffhanger of Avengers: Infinity War. As is natural for a franchise that stars Paul Rudd in the title role, the Ant-Man films have provided great comedic relief for the MCU, especially after the most intense moments with both installments having directly followed blockbuster Avengers films.

Details are vague on the third title in the franchise which Marvel CCO Kevin Feige revealed during Disney Investor Day under the title Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The upcoming sequel will see the entire main cast return to complete the trilogy, except for T.I. who won't be back in the role of Dave. Meanwhile, Johnathon Majors has joined the film as Kang the Conqueror, and Kathryn Newton will take over the role of Cassie Lang.

The inclusion of Kang promises a chaotic time-bending adventure for the Ant-Man crew, and this seems to be reflected in the film's working title that has just been revealed.

WORKING TITLE FOR ANT-MAN SEQUEL REVEALED

According to information shared on Twitter from The DisInsider's Derek Cornell, the working title for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is “Goat Rodeo.”

ANT-MAN IS IN FOR A CHAOTIC RIDE

The names used by Marvel Studios to identify its films behind-the-scenes usually offer little in specific plot details, however, often foreshadow events in some way. For example, Doctor Strange was developed under the title of “Eye See You,” a clear reference to the Eye of Agamotto, an ancient artifact that was revealed to hold the Time Stone.

Using the title of “Goat Rodeo” holds a clever double-meaning that references the past of the Ant-Man franchise, while also teasing what's to come in the sequel.

The term is often used as slang for a chaotic situation in which something has gone disastrously wrong. This would seemingly suggest that whatever Johnathon Majors' villainous Kang the Conqueror is up to in the trilogy-completing film will have disastrous effects for Ant-Man and the Wasp to handle.

Additionally, the reference to a goat acts as a callback to the first Ant-Man film in which Darren Cross inadvertently destroys one by testing a recreation of Hank Pym's shrinking formula on it.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has yet to set an official release date, but it's believed to be scheduled between late 2022 and 2023.
