Ms. Marvel Director Thanks MCU Head Kevin Feige While Sharing Production Update
The highly anticipated Ms. Marvel Disney+ series has proven to be one of the most exciting for many. The show is set to introduce MCU fans to a brand-new young hero, one who became renowned on her initial creation for being a great example of diversity and exploring other cultures.
Ms. Marvel is one of several upcoming projects on Disney+ set to introduce new heroes to the MCU along with Moon Knight, She-Hulk, and Ironheart. Of the slate of new heroes, the Iman Vellani led series is the only one slated for a 2021 release with a specific date yet to be confirmed, but a late Summer release is likely.
Filming on the series is currently ongoing under Bad Boys for Life directors Biall Fallah and Adil El Arbi, however, the pair are seemingly preparing to wrap filming on the project soon. Recent set photos have revealed details of the current filming in Atlanta, however, the team is currently preparing to move production to Bangkok in Thailand.
MS. MARVEL DIRECTOR THANKS KEVIN FEIGE AND KAMALA KHAN CREATORS
Ms. Marvel director Adil El Arbi has shared his thanks to Kevin Feige for the opportunity to work on the Disney+ series as he concludes his part of the filming this week. The Bad Boys for Life director has just wrapped on the project with co-director Biall Fallah as reports suggest the series is set to move filming from Atlanta to Bangkok this month.
"Last week of shoot! Thanks for the opportunity brother Kevin 🙏🏻 ⚡❤"
Arbi went on to share his thanks to “Sana Amanat, G. Willow Wilson, Stephen Wacker, Adrian Alphona, and Jamie McKelvie for creating such an amazing character.” The director said he hopes to make the Ms. Marvel creators proud as he revealed himself reading the original comic run of the character for inspiration as his production comes to a close.
WHERE IS MS. MARVEL GOING NEXT?
As filming on Ms. Marvel continues to push forward, fans are likely moving ever closer to seeing an official look at the young hero in action. Upon her introduction, Kamala Khan — played by Iman Vellani — will become the MCU's youngest hero, making this series an extremely unique one and a great opportunity for the lead actress.
Khan's Pakistani culture is a key part of her character, as such Marvel and Kevin Feige have recruited a Pakistani director to work on Kamala's debut series in Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. America-Indian director Meera Menon will also be helming a part of the series' production. It's unknown which of the two will be taking over directing duties in Thailand later in the month.
Very little is known regarding the plot of Ms. Marvel, however, the story is likely to focus on Kamala's superhuman origin story and acquisition of her powers. The super-powered show will be the first Inhuman to come to life in a Marvel Studios production, meaning the series will have a lot to explain.
Iman Vellani's Marvel debut is set to release later in 2021, exclusively on Disney+.
