The Flash: Kiersey Clemons Set To Reprise Justice League Role In Ezra Miller Movie
The DC Extended Universe is slowly working to build back hype and anticipation for its next round of movies, an effort that's slightly more difficult after the mixed reviews from Wonder Woman 1984's release over the 2020 holiday season. Director James Gunn already has quite the buzz swirling for The Suicide Squad in August, and in the non-canon department, Zack Snyder's Justice League will make its long-awaited arrival next week.
Next year will bring a movie that has seen its fair share of production troubles in Ezra Miller's The Flash. Originally meant to release with the DCEU's first slate of movies in the late 2010s, multiple directorial changes and shooting delays have pushed the release date multiple times for the original Justice League member's solo outing.
To add to the craziness, news has just confirmed a new cast member who was originally in the movie, left the movie, and now is back in the movie once again...
KIERSEY CLEMONS BACK WITH THE DCEU
The Hollywood Reporter reported that actress Kiersey Clemons has officially signed with Warner Bros. to play the role of Iris West in 2022's The Flash.
She was attached to the role previously before exiting the project, and she will also appear in Zack Snyder's Justice League, set to premiere on HBO Max on March 18.
WILL THIS CASTING STICK?
Clemons was initially attached to the role of Iris West when The Flash was preparing for release in 2018, directed at the time by Rick Famuyiwa. After his departure from the film, Clemons was unsure if she would continue with the movie before ultimately departing the cast unexpectedly.
Multiple reports discussed how she would likely never end up playing Barry Allen's love interest, with multiple calls pointing to Warner Bros. searching for her replacement after she left The Flash. She was also meant to play a role in the 2017 theatrical cut of Justice League before Joss Whedon took over the production and cut her role out of the movie.
Clemons was seen in the early trailers for Zack Snyder's Justice League, confirming that she would be the DCEU's Iris West at the very least in this out-of-universe epic. Now that she is confirmed to be back in The Flash once again, it will be interesting to see exactly what the final product will be when this solo movie does get off the ground.
The Flash will begin production in late April 2021, and it is set to release in theaters on November 4, 2022.
