Tom Hiddleston's Loki: Musician Teases Lady Loki & Plot Points In Disney+ Show
The comic book movie world is in an absolutely frantic place right now thanks to Zack Snyder's Justice League from the DCEU and "Episode 1" of The Falcon and the Winter Solider from the MCU arriving last weekend. While this will surely continue for both franchises in 2021, Marvel in particular is just starting its epic run of releasing new content nearly every week of the year.
After The Falcon and the Winter Soldier concludes its run, the focus will shift to a fan-favorite villain/anti-hero with Tom Hiddleston's Loki, officially coming to Disney+ on June 11. Coming a full decade after Hiddleston first stole the show in 2011's Thor, this series will follow the 2012 alternate reality version of the trickster from 2019's Avengers: Endgame as he takes an unpredictable ride through the universe and multiverse.
Rumors have pointed to different versions of Loki potentially appearing alongside Hiddleston's God of Mischief, including the likes of Lady Loki. Thanks to someone in the music department for this series, it appears that this new character is becoming more of a certainty.
LADY LOKI TEASED THROUGH THE MUSIC OF LOKI
A report from Murphy's Multiverseshared how that musician Taz Taylor is helping on the musical score for Marvel Studios' Loki, which is being composed by Natalie Holt.
Taylor's Instagram includes multiple posts from the past few weeks relating to his work on Loki, including a video tease for a piece possibly entitled "Lady Loki," which can be seen below:
On February 12, Taylor posted a picture from the sheet music with the caption mentioning a heart "in the hands of Lady Loki:"
How about the sound of a heart being torn in half. Black blood will be oozing out of it. It’s a black heart covered in ice. Broken by Loki’s scepter, but it’s in the hands of of Lady Loki. 🖤🥶 #MarvelMusic #Loki#LadyLoki #MarvelUniverse#MarvelComics #LokiSeries
On February 1, Taylor shared a picture from the series' first day recording in the studio:
In addition to the "Lady Loki" post, other captions shared by Taylor over the past few months (which appear to be score titles) tease what fans could expect in the series. One caption read "The strings are here for Loki's heart" while another listed "Tears of a Trickster." Taylor also shared music for "The bidding of Loki," which has a fast tempo that could be for a scene with a sense of urgency. A snippet from "My Shadow of Redemption" was also shared by Taylor:
LADY LOKI ALMOST CONFIRMED?
While it's not confirmed that "Lady Loki" is an official name for any of the tracks in the Loki score, it's not uncommon for musical scores like this to have titles that directly reference what's actually happening on screen. However, this seems to be as much of an indication as any that some form of Lady Loki will be involved in the plot of Marvel Studios' Loki.
Other than Tom Hiddleston himself, the only specific role confirmed for his solo series is comedy master Owen Wilson as Mobius M. Mobius of the Time Variance Authority. Rumors have pointed to Sophia Di Martino playing Lady Loki for much of the past year, and while this news isn't definitive, it seems to put that casting more into stone.
For a project that releases less than three months from now, barely anything is known about the journey that Hiddleston's lead will take in his first solo adventure. That should change once The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's run comes closer to ending as Disney+ prepares for its third MCU exclusive of 2021.
Loki is set to debut on Disney+ on June 11.
