Ms. Marvel: Disney+ Series Likely Adds Samina Ahmed To MCU Cast

Ms Marvel Samina Ahmed

Ms. Marvel has been filming in Thailand, Bangkok since March, but the cast for the show is still being revealed. Recent evidence points to Indian superstar Farhan Akhtar appearing in the MCU series in an undisclosed role.

However, there are still plenty of roles that have been left unfilled in Ms. Marvel, such as Kamala Khan's extended family residing in Pakistan. A new report sports similar evidence to Akhtar that another foreign star has been cast in the show.

ANOTHER PAKISTANI ACTRESS FOR MS. MARVEL

It has been found by The Express Tribune through social media that Pakistani star Samina Ahmed may be involved in the Ms. Marvel series currently filming in Thailand.

When asked by one user, “Where is Samina ji?” her husband Sehbai responded, “She is in Thailand, shooting for a Hollywood serial, will be back on May 6.”

It is possible that this “Hollywood serial” is Ms. Marvel, but her role in the series is unknown. Since Ahmed will have filmed for the show for at least more than a month, it shouldn't be insignificant.

KAMALA KAHN'S GRANDMOTHER FOR DISNEY+?

Considering the likelihood that Thailand, Bangkok will be representing Badin, Pakistan, which is where Kamala Khan visited her extended family in the comics, it's likely that Ahmed will be playing a relative of either Kamala Khan or Aramis Knight's Kareem, a.k.a. Red Dagger.

As she'll be filming for an extended period of time, it's a good guess that Ahmed could be playing Kamala's unnamed maternal grandmother in the comics. She is referred to only as Naani, “maternal grandmother” in Urdu, by Kamala and other family members.

In the comics, while Kamala stayed in Badin, Naani was a source of comfort and helped her feel at home. It could be that Naani may have a slightly more extended role than she had in the comics.

Ms. Marvel is currently scheduled to release on Disney+ in late 2021.
