Pedro Pascal's Last of Us Series Adds Gabriel Luna To HBO Cast

Gabriel Luna Last of Us

Naughty Dog is a company known for making some of the best games out there. One of their biggest is The Last of Us. The first game originally came out in 2013 for the PS3, with the second not releasing until 2020 on PS4.

Their second installment in the franchise was met with an intense amount of backlash, with fans going as far as to say that they ruined the series. While that is far from the case, the game was still a hit with the critics. The Last of Us: Part 2 showed Naughty Dog at their very best, telling an engrossing story with intricately deep characters, and consistently engaging gameplay to go alongside it.

With Playstation focused on getting some of their biggest gaming blockbusters onto the big screen, The Last of Us took a slightly different turn. As it was announced as a series on HBO. The series is set to have the same key creative talents behind it, such as the game's creative director and writer Neil Druckmann.

A few months ago, HBO announced that Pedro Pascal was to play the lead star Joel, while Bella Ramsey would be joining him as Ellie. So while we know who is going to play our main duo, it's about time that we learn who else is joining the cast.

LAST OF US ADDS CAST MEMBER

According to Variety, Gabriel Luna has been cast in The Last of Us show as Tommy, Joel's younger brother, who is also "a former soldier who hasn't lost his sense of idealism and hope for a better world."

JOEL'S GOT A BROTHER

It was only a matter of time before we got the official casting for Tommy. Most of Joel and Ellie's story revolves around people who come and go, passing through their journey across what was The United States. Tommy however, plays a key role, seeing how he is Joel's brother.

Now Tommy doesn't have all that much to do within the scope of the first game, but he is an integral part of the second. So, assuming the show continues on past its first season, we're going to be seeing a lot of Gabriel Luna.

Now not much is known about how true of an adaptation the show will be to the games. Neil Druckmann teased that some episodes would "deviate greatly from the events we've played previously. But will the first season end where the first game did? Or should fans expect a longer journey through those same events?

One thing is for sure though. It's going to be fascinating to see what happens when the show gets to the events of the second game—and when they introduce Abbey to the world.
