Disney Unveils New Poster For Falcon and the Winter Soldier's Awards Campaign
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is one of the latest projects of Marvel Studios under its ambitious Phase 4 slate. The series showcased the MCU returns of Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson and Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes as they try to navigate in a world without their leader and friend, Steve Rogers a.k.a. Captain America.
The titular pair had separate arcs throughout the show's six-episode run, with Sam dealing with the responsibility of taking over the star-spangled mantle while Bucky attempts to live a normal life without Hydra's influence. The emergence of new threats like the Flag Smashers and the mysterious Power Broker made things complicated for Sam and Bucky, but their unlikely alliance with Daniel Brühl's Zemo and the surprise assistance of the Dora Milaje helped them to prevail in the end.
It is currently unknown if The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will receive a second season, especially after it was revealed that a fourth Captain America film is being developed.
In the meantime, it seems that Disney is pretty much focused on the show's potential for awards due to the arrival of a new poster...
FALCON AND WINTER SOLDIER'S EMMY CAMPAIGN
Disney, via Twitter, officially released a new Emmy campaign poster for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier that is specifically focused on the Outstanding Drama Series category:
A SIGNIFICANT PUSH FROM DISNEY
After the House of Mouse already released a separate poster for the show's campaign for Best Drama Series, this marks the second Emmy-related poster for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier under the same category. Based on this reveal, it is safe to say that the studio is going all-out in terms of pushing the show towards landing an Emmy win.
This is also the first time that Carl Lumbly's Isaiah Bradley is featured in an official promotional image for the Marvel series. While the character was indeed shown in several promo spots and trailers leading up to the finale, giving Isaiah the spotlight in this poster is fitting, especially after Lumbly's impressive performance during the show's emotional moments.
To recap, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier earned positive reception from fans and critics during its premiere, earning a 96% overall rating from Rotten Tomatoes. However, the tide shifted during the finale when the last installment in the Disney+ series became the worst-rated episode of the show.
Despite the division from viewers, the Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan-led project still delivered on its promise of showcasing issues of racial inequalities and other social themes. Nabbing an Emmy nomination would bolster the resume of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but many would agree that addressing the aforementioned issues is a win in its own right already.
All episodes of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier are now streaming on Disney+.
