Fortnite: New Art Teases Tom Hiddleston's Loki Coming To Game
Ever since its release back in 2017, Fortnite—more specifically its Battle Royale mode—has continued to be an undeniable hit. Not only has the game maintained a massive playerbase while raking in plenty of cash, but it has also persisted as a staple of today's pop culture.
Fortnite isn't just a part of pop culture—it plays off of every other facet of it as well by the way of in-game collaborations. Recently, Fortnite has been all across the map in that regard, with characters such as Kratos from God of War, skins from the Terminator franchise, and even the Mandalorian himself—alongside an ingame location based on the famous Star Wars cantina.
Usually, these collaborations are just simple skins or additions of small, neat details to the game's map. However, for the fourth season of the game's second chapter, Fortnite went all in with an entire season based around Marvel which culminated in a massive in-game event where players went up against Galactus himself.
Even though that season has long been concluded, it looks like Fortnite still plans on injecting that Marvel spirit into their game even further.
LOKI HOPS ON THE FORTNITE BATTLE BUS
Thanks to the patch notes of an upcoming update for Fortnite, it has been teased that Tom Hiddleston's Loki will be coming to the game at some point in the near future.
Above is the loading screen that was revealed within the patch notes. If you look closely, you can see a familiar Marvel silhouette.
Taking a closer look at the loading screen, there are actually two shadows that look awfully familiar to any Marvel fans out there.
On the left, Tom Hiddleston's Loki can be seen clear as day. Though there definitely seems to have been some liberties taken with the design of his iconic staff.
On the right, there is a silhouette that looks eerily like Chris Hemsworth's Thor. Though not as clear-cut as Loki, Thor's addition wouldn't be all that surprising—yes, even if Thor has already gotten one skin in the Fortnite universe.
LOKI IS HERE TO PLAY
Loki's addition to the game isn't surprising at all. With how much the game likes to collaborate with current pop culture events, Loki's upcoming premiere on Disney+ is a perfect opportunity for them to do so.
It is questionable as to why Loki's show gets this honor. Neither WandaVision nor The Falcon and the Winter Soldier got that opportunity despite the potential for plenty of skins from both of those series that fans would surely love to utilize. Just look at Sam Wilson's Captain America for example, who could have his own built-in vibranium glider if he were incorporated into the game.
The God of Mischief's inclusion could also be an attempt to tease the potential upcoming theme for Chapter 7 of Fortnite, which, according to the same patch notes, seems to hint at Aliens. If true, maybe Fortnite could be getting Skrulls in the near future. Imagine having in-game emotes that turn you into other skins with a button press. Sounds like Fortnite has a golden opportunity waiting to be taken.
