Marvel Reveals New Cover of Massive 'Marvel Cinematic Universe' Book Featuring Avengers Heroes
Back in 2008, Marvel Studios premiered their first movie with Iron Man, which was a huge gamble by the studio. Not only was Iron Man not that well known of a character at the time, but the script hadn't even been completed when shooting began—not to mention their lead actor had a not-so-clean past.
Clearly, it all worked out well since thirteen years later, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is one of the biggest and most well-known aspects of pop culture as fans know it today. They started with the gamble of Iron Man, and continued taking risk upon risk—even elevating the Guardians of the Galaxy out of obscurity.
With something so big and intricate, obviously, people are curious as to how it was all made. At SDCC 2018, Marvel officially announced a making-of-book that would cover the first 10 years of Marvel Studios, providing exclusive looks and new information about the decade-long journey to reach Avengers: Endgame.
However, since the announcement, nothing has been heard about it. That is, until now...
MAKING THE FIRST TEN YEARS OF MCU
Marvel published a new update today regarding the previously announced behind-the-scenes book The Story of Marvel Studios: The Making of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, not only reconfirming its existence but also providing its new release date of October 19th, 2021.
According to the author, Tara Bennett, the book is not only over 500 pages containing over 200,000 words, but it has also been in the works for over three years.
For those looking to purchase it, the very long and expanded book will retail at $150. So best to start saving now.
Pictures of the book can be seen below, including the brand-new slipcover featuring five of the most popular members of the Avengers squad.
The design of the slipcover protecting the massive book, showcasing characters from their vast selection of films.
The front cover, featuring the golden outline of the Infinity Gauntlet.
The back cover of the book, this time showcasing a golden outline of the Mark I Iron Man outfit from Robert Downey Jr.'s first MCU outing.
The whole product, in all of its glory, with many of the main Avengers and associated characters.
A STORY OVER A DECADE IN THE MAKING
It's no surprise how massive this book is. Given the undertaking and the massive amount of work making this book was in the first place, it's surprising that it hasn't taken longer to complete. The amount of new information that must be held within those pages is staggering.
It's probably not an exaggeration to say that many fans are likely frothing at the mouth to have this book in their hands—especially with it now having been nearly three years since the original announcement of its existence.
This marks the first time that Marvel has released a proper behind-the-scenes look at their inner workings in book form. The usual big-book release similar to this comes with the massive "Art of" books that release with every MCU film.
With the significant price tag that comes with the product, not everyone will be getting their hands on the book. So expect all the information held within the book to slowly trickle out, even months after its release in October.
