Loki Writer Addresses Infinity Stones Surprise From Episode 1 (Exclusive)

Loki and Infinity Stones

Warning - This article contains spoilers for the series premiere of Loki.

Loki has arrived, and it is time fans forget everything they know about the rules of MCU.

Dealing with multiple timelines, variants, and universes, Loki is bound to be one of if not the most thought-provoking project in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The first episode of Loki was not subtle about setting the standards of how big this show gets.

The Infinity Stones were the goober of the entirety of the Infinity Saga. Before fans even knew it, these six magic stones were shaping the MCU landscape as we know it. And, in the premiere episode of Loki, not only is there a desk drawer full of Infinity Stones, but they are used as paperweights by the support staff of the TVA.

In an exclusive interview with The Direct, head writer of Loki Michael Waldron explained just how much this series is going to change the way audiences see the MCU, including the all-mighty Infinity Stones.

When asked what it is like to work with the most meta-story ever offered in the MCU, Michael Waldron told The Direct how exciting it is to work with such a big scope. Waldron touched on the drawer of Infinity Stones in the TVA headquarters, noting how the series is "redefining" the six gems and perhaps other important elements of the MCU:

"On the one hand, it’s exciting because you’re building a new corner of the world. So you can chart your own course, redefining what things like Infinity Stones actually mean in the MCU."

Waldron went on to discuss the other side to that coin, being that decisions made in Loki are sure to have lasting effects on the rest of the universe:

"At the same time, everything in the MCU trickles down, trickles up, and informs what’s to come. And also even what’s come before. With that power comes that great responsibility."

FORGET EVERYTHING YOU KNOW ABOUT THE MCU

Waldron's comments are another indication of what fans can expect regarding the sheer scale and scope of this series. The TVA is more powerful than what was established to be the most powerful forces of the universe.

So, moving forward in the journey through six episodes of Loki, audiences need to readjust what they know as the hierarchy of power. Or, just sit back, relax, and forget everything you know.

The first episode of Loki is now streaming on Disney+.
