Thor 4: New Look at Chris Hemsworth's Electric Superhero Revealed In Official Art
Thor is the only character of the original three MCU heroes to get their own trilogy to receive an upcoming fourth installment. Thor: Love and Thunder will see Chris Hemsworth return as the God of Thunder and Thor: Ragnorak's Taika Waititi back to direct.
Returning to the franchise, Natalie Portman will reprise her role as Jane Foster, but this time she will wield Mjölnir as Mighty Thor. Batman alumnus Christian Bale will join the MCU as Gorr the God Butcher, Tessa Thompson is back as Valkaryie, and the Guardians of the Galaxy will also take part in this cosmic adventure.
This soon-to-be Thor quadrilogy will be the first of its kind. The film will seemingly take place soon after the events of Avengers: Endgame, but new images of Chris Hemsworth's massive arms indicate that Bro Thor will be left in the past.
Another new image indicates what this Son of Odin will look like in the 2022 blockbuster.
NEW LOOK AT THOR IN LOVE AND THUNDER
A new look at Chris Hemsworth's Thor in Love and Thunder has surfaced on Twitter. Adam Khan reported that this image comes from a t-shirt given to crew members on set similar to the recent Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness promo image.
The animated image of the God of Thunder shows him donning a familiar red vest from set photos, wielding Stormbreaker, and engulfed in lightning:
HOW CRAZY WILL LOVE AND THUNDER BE?
It is clear that all of the humor, color, and electricity of Thor: Ragnorak will be doubled, if not tripled, in Love and Thunder. Director Taika Waititi recently said that "every idea and every single ridiculous concept or gag or stunt or character" is in Love and Thunder.
This new image of Thor shows a glimpse of how zany this film is gearing up to be. The 180-degree turn that the Thor franchise took when Waititi took over as director in Ragnorak is something fans celebrated. The franchise went from dark and Shakespearean to bright and comedic.
In a simple description of this film, it may sound bleak. Thor is taking on a new path with no home, Gorr the God Butcher is hunting him down, and his love, Jane Foster (maybe), has cancer but also has the ability to become Mighty Thor.
Thor's story in the MCU has been one of the most tragic, but because of the new direction taken with the character since 2017, it has sugar-coated many of his losses. Taika Taititi has proven in films like Ragnorak and Jojo Rabbit that he has a unique ability to use humor and tackle incredible tragic moments simultaneously.
This latest look at Thor should have fans ready for yet another fun ride when Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters on May 6, 2022.
