Did Marvel Just Spoil a Major Shang-Chi Death In New Trailer?
Warning - This article may contain spoilers for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
Marvel Studios will soon be making its second theatrical run with Simu Liu's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings when it arrives on September 3, 2021. This film is set to introduce the MCU's first new leading hero of Phase 4 in an adventure that will explore the mystical world of martial arts and Asian culture for the first time.
Shang-Chi will have his fair share of adversaries in his debut solo adventure, particularly in the form of his father, the real Mandarin. Having worked most of his adult life to escape his clutches and the legacy of the long-standing Ten Rings organization, the leading hero will be in for a world of trouble dealing with a super-powered tournament and finding his own way in life.
Considering this is Marvel Studios' first true origin story in half a decade, fans are particularly curious to see how the plot progressed the overall narrative and which characters will move on to future projects.
However, fate may not be looking too kindly on one individual thanks to a particularly spoiler-filled ad for the movie.
DEATH TO THE DEATH DEALER?
The latest TV spot for Marvel Studios' Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings may have spoiled a major death in the movie for the Death Dealer.
The villainous fighter is seen being picked up by some kind of tentacle-endowed creature who is sliding said tentacles into the Death Dealer's mouth, which is also glowing in the shot:
There is another shot of a huge explosion in a body of water with birds surrounding the blast. The shot appears to include some kind of tentacle-based being in it as well:

WHAT DANGEROUS MCU CREATURES ARE THESE?
The Death Dealer has shown to be a key player through the marketing campaign for Shang-Chi by training the young hero alongside the Mandarin, most times in tough fashion. Other trailer shots have showcased an epic battle between the two in the same location as the fight on the scaffolding, making it clear that Shang-Chi's past will be haunting him often.
As an important figure through Shang-Chi's entire life, the Death Dealer will be someone to pay close attention to as the Ten Rings organization shows its true power to the world. From the footage shown so far, the intense fighter appears to be one of the Mandarin's central leadership figures, making his potential death that much more impactful.
The biggest question is what actually leads to this major death; it looks to be some kind of dragon or other mythical creature, possibly one teased on a recent poster for the movie.
With both Florian Munteanu's Razor Fist and Michelle Yeoh's Jiang Nan standing ready for battle beneath the action, there's also the chance that the Death Dealer's allegiances could change before these dramatic events.
No matter what comes to play in the movie's plot, fans will be paying close attention to spot this moment and find out if it truly is the end of the Death Dealer's journey.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is set to release in theaters on September 3, 2021.
